Reboot ~ Take III
Alright…..looks like having done two previous maiden posts means nothing as I am still at a lost for words this time around. Anyway, welcome to Sekijitsu! I hope you had a pleasant entrance and feel free to stay around a bit more. I know there’s not much to look at right now but come back and I’m sure there will be plenty of content in the very near future.
So I’m Bass, creator and founder of Sekijitsu. I was previously head of Heta no Yoko-Zuki, a tiny manga/anime blog which suddenly tanked due to some unfortunate circumstances with the host provider (for some reason, my payments for the host renew would not go through, no matter what I tried). Rather than give up and live a normal live, here I am three months later, with a new host, a new blog name and a new design. To be honest the day HNYZ went under, I thought I would just be reviving the old brand when I could. After some thought though, I thought it would be more fun to start fresh (although I gotta admit, I do miss the old blog header and the old design and colour scheme).

Blog design progression
Of course, other than the new paint coat, not much has changed. My tastes and writing style still remains the same (crap as ever), and morri is still up for the ride. There is one change on the writer front though, as we now have an extra writer on board, Fuu from D.Gray Divinity (a D.Gray-Man forum where we had first met). Fuu is a great writer with tonnes of previous experience, as he is currently a reviewer for Nihon Review, a very nice site if I do say so myself. Hopefully with his past experience and tastes, he can help to diversify our outlook as well as our content. As for some details on the name Sekijitsu, the logo and blog design, you can head on to the About page for more info there.
In a nutshell, Sekijitsu will primarily focus on anime and manga. The scope doesn’t end there though, as we will also occasionally dish out on our other interests, such as gaming, technology, movies, books, sports or whatever the flavour of the month happens to be. Fundamentally though, the sole focus will tend to be on anime, manga and japanese culture in general, be it mainstream series or more obscure stuff.
Now that I’ve got the introductions out of the way, you can definitely expect to see more content flow through within the next few days, as I’m looking to make a hitlist of the stuff that I might cover in my posts. Maybe morri and Fuu will do the same in the next few days, I don’t know, but be sure to stay tuned and keep tracking the progress (or better yet, subscribe to Sekijitsu through our RSS Feed or through my twitter!) If you have any questions or see any problems around the blog, don’t hesitate to contact us either. The faster I fix these niggling issues, the better ~_^
Until then, ja!

Great to see this Bass, very nice job! Glad you're back on the blogging scene
Thanks XD
Still have a bit of work to do though, just realized that the blog looks odd on IE. Thing is, I'm on a mac so IE users are really taking the hit lol
My recent post Reboot ~ Take III
I'm on a Mac too, using FF, and it looks just great haha.
Whenever I'm working on something, the thing I despise the most is making it work in IE ><
Yea, macs are fun :3 I proly shud put somewhere that it's best viewed in firefox lol
I really have no clue how to fix the IE prob
Nice site site you have here, I love the design, Naruto is my favorite anime btw
Thanks, just had a look at your site and it looks ace as well.
Would you mind doing a link exchange with me?
My recent post Bass’ Manga Hitlist – Part II
Dude, like seriously…..this is one of the BEST site's I've ever seen in my life…and lemme tell you, I've been to a SLEW of sites. I mean the hover effects have been accounted for majority of the time. Social media buttons are nice, comments section great. I love it all. There are only 2 things I might change though:
1. I like the Northern Nav you got going, but when it comes to the VERY bottom footer nav and the "Featured," "Manga," and "News" part, you might want to lighten them up. I'm in a fairly lit room, but only saw them because I happened to rollover them
But yeah, I'm sure some others might be missing those links too
2. Keep your comments just "regular." When I say that, I mean just use the regular wordpress way or get some other script. "Intensedebate/open ID" comment boxes are notorius for ALWAYS asking people to subscribe and sending junk mail. Many people comment less because of it. I'd probably change it
2.5. I know I only said 2 things, but I justttt noticed this one. The "minimize" button at the footer, make it bigger
Or at least put some text by it that says minimize or something.
Other than that….I'm so jealous of your design it's not even funny lol Like I like it MORE than the crap I was trying to do….wowwww, like kudos bro. I friggin LOVE it. Would you mind helping me out sometimes?
Ohhh, yeah, and last thing:
When dealing with your URLs, since your're just starting to get content on this site, this shouldn't be too hard, but do yourself a GREAT favor, and give your urls actual names. Like for example, sekijitsu.com/?p=330 = sekijitsu.com/new-anime-theme. It's easier for google, and get's you major press. I noticed more traffic after I did the same thing. Anyways, PIMP blog, and I friggin love it. i'm STILL taking it all in….
Thank you so much, that means a lot coming from you. I've actually been following your blog for quite a while now. In fact, your blog was one of the reasons why I decided to trudge along and make a new site after my last one tanked (I loved your design and elements, especially your choice in images lol)
And thanks for the suggestions, I'm actually currently looking into it right now. I've been trying to add like a button behind the top navbar to make it more visible. As for the comments, I never knew IntenseDebate did that :O It's just that my comments section natively has a few weird bugs and I have no clue how to fix them. I'll be actively looking for solutions though.
And by minimize at the footer, you mean the tiny red arrow? I'll look towards changing that very soon
Btw, how do I change the urls? I have no clue how to do that
Thanks again for all the glowing comments, it means a lot to me. I would definitely love to help you out. You can add me on msn if you want, I can send you my email through gmail.

Oh man, Bass.
I'm looking at the site from work and the layout looks hideous. You'd drop dead if you saw it. XD
I think its just because the browser/computer is so out of date, but almost nothing shows up like it should. The sidebar is actually just a list of crammed up text links and the footer has no images at all.
Is it cos you used IE? It looks crap on older IEs (or any IE for that matter…)
PS. I need screenies
My recent post Bakuman Page 74
Actually, I was using Firefox. Version three of Firefox, so it wasn't an out-of-date version.
My work comp doesn't let me take screenies, but I can try to find a way around it next week if it helps.
Hmm odd. What version of windows?
I checked it on every web browser on my Windows 7 and it looks decent to fine
My recent post Bakuman Page 74
I'm pretty sure it runs on Windows XP (my work is too stingy to upgrade).
I'll try to get a screenie if I can this week.
My recent post Bakuman Page 74
That's odd.
My 8 year old computer with XP has it looking great on firefox with 1024×768
I switched to Opera now, and this blog is looking win. You were able to change the look of the date and title
I certainly hope it is. >:
My recent post Bakuman Page 74
Yea, bought a loooonggggg hosting plan so it's good to go
You on Opera for good? I think Opera doesn't show some of the rounded borders
They should follow one piece and only do a filler thats a few episode once after 3-4 long arcs
