Weekly Artists – タカヤマトシアキ

Alright, I’ve been trying to get this segment going since the old HnYZ days but now that I have some time and the big weekly mangas are tackled, I’d like to introduced a weekly entry about some of the amazing artists I have found on the web. While the title says weekly, I’ll probably post more than once a week so it doesn’t actually hold much meaning. Either way, this is a showcase of the amazing talents that I feel that I need to share with our readers.

This entry will highlight the talents of a certain pixiv artist, the one who’s art is a mainstay in Sekijitsu; タカヤマトシアキ. I don’t know japanese so I’m not able to translate that but this artist is the genius who supplied Sekijitsu the Yoko header art that I’ve been using as the face of the blog. From his portfolio, he has an excellent range of work, from mechas to animes all the way to conceptual designs.

The textured brush strokes and the smooth blending of colours definitely evoke comparisons to the insanely talented Artgerm, and with some work that I can only assume is done for card games and monster design, he must work in some giant japanese art studio like Imaginary Friends. Anyway, I was initially pulled in due to his many Gurren Lagaann artwork but after browsing his gallery, he could easily be designing mechs or even monsters for Digimon and Pokemon. Below is just a taste of his artwork and if interested, grab yourself a pixiv account and haul ass over for a memorable eyegasm (my friend’s words, not mine).
