Short Summary: This episode begins with Seiji’s sister, Namie, talking about love and her love for her brother. She has to begin a search for him, because “Mika” has disposed of Seiji’s phone. Through her search, we get to see her ties with Izaya, who seems to have his hand in just about everything going on in the city. During all of this, she explains her past with Seiji, and how the situation has come to be. We learn that their uncle was in possession of  Celty’s head, and Seiji fell in love with the head when he was a young boy.

Durarara 09 - Shot 03

Creeeeeppyyyy

As time went on, he became more and more obsessed with the head, spending hours on end looking at it and talking to it. In order to get it away from him, she decided to take it on a test subject at the company when she began working there. Somehow Seiji was able to learn that she had taken it there, and he took it upon himself to steal it, and keep it in his room. This was all fine, until Mika broke into his room (being the stalker she was) and discovered the head. Seiji promptly attacked her, leaving her in a bloody pool on his floor.

Mmm...bloody ramen.

He then called his sister to come help him, who apparently would even cover up a murder for him. She promptly arrives, takes the body and puts Celty’s head on it. I’m not quite sure why, but this is what  happens. So, flash forward back to the present, “Mika” and Seiji are in town. She is trying to get Seiji to run away with her, and get away from Namie. As they are arguing, they come upon Celty and Shizuo sitting in the park, and this is where things get interesting. Celty realizes that a girl, “Mika”, has her head and begins to chase after her. Upon catching her, “Mika” screams bloody murder, and Shizuo approaches to try and calm her down. He is then attacked by Seiji, with pens, because he apparently doesn’t know who he’s messing with.

You gon' get it.

You gon' get it.

Celty chases after “Mika”, who is assisted by Mikado in her escape. She returns home, and updates Shinra on the situation. She’s not sure what to do, but she knows that she has to track this girl down. After this, we see Mikado and “Mika” at his apartment, he is making her some tea. She won’t tell him much information, but she is texting someone on her cellphone. The episode closes as we find out she has been in contact with Izaya this whole time, once again showing that he is the mastermind behind many things. lolo

My Thoughts: What an episode. I’m very happy we got a lot of back story out of this one, but we also found out some really creepy stuff. The whole situation with Seiji is incredibly messed up and weird, but it also puts a lot of things in perspective. I had a feeling about the whole “Mika” thing, but I wasn’t entirely sure how it occurred. I honestly didn’t expect that it would have been Seiji who “killed” her. Namie being so in love with her brother is also quite something, but I guess it’s to be expected, I do want to see how it turns out though.

It’s also quite the development that Celty now knows that her head is nearby, and on someone else’s body. She reacted basically how I would have expected her to, and her conversation with Shinra really showed how shocked and confused she was. After these last two episodes, I’ve really come to like her character a lot more than I expected. Seeing Shizuo put Seiji in his place was a nice touch, as I’m increasingly finding Seiji quite annoying.

Overall, this was a good episode, I would say I enjoyed it more than last weeks, and since I don’t have a half of a star, I’ll just have to say it. This episode gets 4.5 out of 5 stars.

  • Damn this shit just got real!

This whole sibling love is creepy to say the least, especially with how far Namie is willing to go for her younger brother. Also, that confession at the end of the ep didn't help but to confirm her feelings.

And the whole Mika murder thing was totally unexpected for me. I initially thought she was just captured by those kidnappers people but I would have never guessed that she was made to be part of the human experimentation. Seiji is a douche lol Good thing Shizuo put him in his place (I love how he reacted to the stabbings. The man is a beast!)

And now that Mikado has butted in on the proceedings, we now know how the main trio are connected into this whole plot. Once Namie and Izaya finds out who and where he is, things will never be the same for the newbie.

Also, the fact that Celty finally found her head was also awesome, although it was a little jarring to see how her head reacted after seeing her body like that. She must have some major case of amnesia or something. It's gonna be a whole lotta work for Celty to convince her that she is hers.

    Can't wait for next week.
