「 488 – The Villages 」Things start to move forward as the feudal lords have now acted up on making a decision for the united ninja alliance. As the political development continues, Naruto is faced with his own problem, having to explain to his fellow generation why he should fight Sasuke himself. Will things go smoothly on both fronts?

Chapter 488 – The Villages

Summary: The feudal lords are in the midst of a discussion that would effect the ninja world immensely, as they weigh up the pros and cons of green-lighting this ninja alliance. While the Water Lord was hesitant at first, he too reluctantly agrees in the end as everyone agreed to let the alliance occur for the sake of the human world. Elsewhere, Naruto and co. are looking over the wreckage that Sakura had left behind in order to confront Sasuke on her own. Naruto attempts to wake them up himself but instead falls over and takes a nap, as there were still some lingering effects left from Sakura’s poison.

All across the ninja villages, news begin to spread that the feudal lords had given their blessing, which doesn’t seem like much of a surprise seeing as Madara was the catalyst in all of the potential chaos. Back with Naruto’s gang, everyone has finally woken up and Kiba is still a little pissed at Sakura’s little stunt, since he did all the hard work of locating Sasuke in the first place. Karin notices that Naruto’s chakra was actually a direct opposite to Sasuke’s, since his was very bright and warm. She does however sense a glint of unprecedented evil within it however, as she has no idea that Naruto is the container for the Kyuubi. Not long after they begin their journey back to the village, Sai is confronted by a bunch of Root Anbu. Since they all have realized that the seal that Danzou had placed on their tongues were gone, they all came to the conclusion that their leader was finally gone, and that they owe the new Hokage Kakashi an explanation of what they have been up to within the shadows all these years.

A surprising development however is occurring in Konoha, as Shizune is alerted to Tsunade’s bedside. We don’t get to see the results of this instantly though, as the scene changes back to Naruto as he tries to explain to his fellow generation why he will fight Sasuke on his own. As everyone is willing to take the risk of taking Sasuke out, they don’t see the logic in allowing Naruto to risk himself too much. They are also griling him over the fact that they let Sasuke escape too easily once more, seeing as Naruto is now very powerful himself. Naruto was adamant though that he still wasn’t able to defeat Sasuke at that point after seeing into this thoughts. Clearly hiding something, Naruto withdraws himself from the discussion as he didn’t want to burden anyone else with his discovery.

At the fire lord’s palace, Kakashi is just about to be appointed as the new Hokage when Shizune suddenly bursts in with news that Tsunade had awaken. This shocks everyone and the timing is perfect as they needed a leader to represent them in the new alliance. Back at Madara’s lair, Sasuke had just undergone his own surgical operation, as Madara had completely transplanted Itachi’s eyes into Sasuke. Sasuke remarks that he is already tasting the immense power of his older brother, as he feels himself growing stronger and stronger.

My Thoughts: At this rate, Kakashi will never get to become the Hokage. Oh well, at least it saves him the burden of more paperwork, which he himself dreads the most (much like his teacher Jiraiya). Although I would have loved to see him don that awesome Hokage hat and robe in the next alliance meeting, I guess Tsunade’s timely return will be able to save him up for more epic battles in the future. I doubt that Tsunade will be reinstated that quickly though, since she still seems a little hazy after that little beauty sleep. Depending on how much of a recovery she makes in the next chapter or so, we might still see Kakashi be made a Hokage although I’m sure Tsunade will want her old cushion chair job back. (I look forward to her meetings with the Mizukage lol)

What I’d like to find out more about is this little tidbit that Naruto seems to keep a secret to himself about Sasuke. He didn’t exactly explain why they are both gonna die when they fight each other. Maybe Sasuke’s sharingan is gonna take out the kyuubi or something? Maybe it has something to do with Itachi’s little gift before his death to Naruto. Actually, that might be interesting. What if Itachi inserted a bomb into Naruto so that when Sasuke is about to give the final blow (cos let’s face it, I doubt Naruto will ever get to that point at this rate), Naruto explodes and Sasuke is unable to escape since Itachi thought as far forward as to have his eyes in Sasuke be like a ball-and-chain. Lol I love making up this stuff, though even this seems a tad farfetched. If it isn’t, you heard it here first.

And yea, Sasuke finally gets the implants he so clearly needs (courtesy of Madara M.D.) and now we will never see the end of all the Susano’o and Amaterasu spamming. Since he clearly stated that he can feel Itachi’s power flow through and him getting stronger (maybe it’s because of Itachi putting a cockblock hex on it for Sasuke to die when he meets up with Naruto’s gift eh?), it won’t be long before we see him test run his new set of eyes on a helpless bystander. So much for not wanting his brother’s eyes to see what he does to Konoha aye? He sure is fickle. The moment he goes blind he goes back on his promise all for a personal vendetta. Blah.

Anywho, the next chapter will probably focus on Tsunade slowly getting back into her old self, unless she pulls a hammy and they all decide on Kakashi again. After this slow, boring but surprisingly eventful chapter, I can’t wait for the next battle. All this political jibber-jabber is slowly boring me to death. (Oh and it looks like Naruto has a new fangirl?? Karin seems to be slowly converting from a Sasgay-girl to a Narutard. Things are looking up for the blondie)

  I feel sorry for Kakashi though; he finally mentally prepares himself for the job and then gets blocked at the last moment. Poor sod :<

  I also find it quite amusing that they seemingly left Yamamoto behind all on his lonesome guarding a kage bunshin.

    Yea it was actually quicker than I thought, maybe she's just desparate.

    And lol, I forgot all about Yamato. All this time and he's probably still stuck there in the woods. Looks like even Kishi forgets these minor details.

  The political stuff was boring – or just took up too much time and space. I'm glad Tsunade wasn't so easily killed off – though I'm sad that Kakashi won't be Hokage just yet. It makes me wonder if Tsunade will be sacrificed later so that Kakashi can be Hokage, or if he'll just never get that role.

  I like that Naruto is still himself, but clearly more mature. I'm just a little irritated because it does seem so selfish that he isn't elaborating his plan with his friends – why does he have to be the one to kill Sasuke? Why do they both have to die? What's going to happen when they fight next – and will it be the last time?

  (I'd totally forgot that Yamato was still guarding the Naruto that isn't there, haha. Poor guy.)

    Yea, it would have been awesome to see Kakashi as the hokage, it would make the whole hokage lineage pretty much one big family.

    I think what Naruto found out in Sasuke's head was possibly too dark for him to reveal. Or maybe he sees a glimpse of hope that the others just won't understand? Either way, I hope the others don't butt into that epic battle lol.

  I liked the parts where Karin made fun of Sakura and Kiba made fun of Naruto.

  Did Naruto see something when he was mind-linked with Sasuke? I don't really remember…

  As for your scenario, instead of Naruto exploding, Sasuke's eyes (Itachi's eyes) will explode when Sasuke is about to kill Naruto.
