K-On!! Episode 01

Just 1 Question Really, WHY IS MIO WEARING NODOKA'S GLASSES?

K-on!! or Musical loli’s 2 revenge of the loli episode 1

「 けいおん!」The new moe-riffic guitar-strumming, drum-slamming, bass-picking, keyboard-playing K-on is now upon us, as the new season brings about new reasons for Gibson, Marshall and co. to product-place the shit out of their instruments. Read on to check up on my take with the premier episode!

けいおん!! or GO! GO! MANIAC

OP: The song is actually quite catchy I must say, not as great as Cagayake! GIRLS but it’ll just need time to get used to. The opening itself (the video) is definitely a step up from the first season. Fast paced and just a good song.

Genres: comedy, slice of life
Themes: bishoujo, moe, music, school
Number of episodes: 14

Summary: The episode starts off with Yui arriving early to school…..there you have it ladies and gentlemen the world as we know it is ending. So she starts jamming on her guitar in the music room, which leads into a shot of everyone else walking to school. After they arrive they catch her doing a windmill technique strumming, apparently she got in an accident with it early on and is now practicing for orientation. I have to say the tune she’s doing is pretty good though.

Yui-Chan are you hitting on me?

Seems like Yui STILL has the urge to hug Azusa to death EVERY TIME, but this time WITH MEANING! for she is a Junior!

GLOMP OF DEATH!

They go onto to see what class their in, and Yui, being the smart one of the group, crawls through the horde of girls to see and on her way out she falls! So they’re all in the same class, minus Azusa because she’s not a senior. Mio for once cries about it because this is the first time they were all together.

A promotion already?

Sawako got them all together, so my question is simple who did Sawako screw to get them all in the same class? And it seems Sawako is their new teacher too! And right when Ritsu is about to reveal the truth about Sawako to some random student she tells her to be quiet. For the assembly Yui finds a Cherry Blossom and stuffs it in her pocket. In the auditorium we see them all singing what I think is possibly a school anthem? (if you know please tell me) On the way out Yui picks up yet another Cherry Blossom and I think gives it to Nodoka. I swear Sawa-chan gets off by dressing them up in things like maid outfits, or anything else her mind comes up with. Why oh WHY did they not show the performance I wonder?

Of course since they’re seniors now they need to get new members. And is it me or do they only eat cake and drink tea? (Bass: Yes they do :P) They keep talking some more about how if they don’t get new members Azusa will be alone (the shot of Azusa imagining herself as president was quite funny). So the brilliant plan is to dress up as Furries and hand out fliers, brilliant is it not? This show proves even more why Furries are definitely a force to be reckoned with.

OH MY GOD! YUI CHAN HAS BECOME BLACK AND WHITE!

Ritsu has her own plan though, Tripping in the hall and getting innocent girls to take her to the music room (innocent right?) So after the attempted (rape) recruitment fails they go back to planning. Yui’s plan is even dumber but funny. Her trick is getting more innocent girls to take her to the music room by acting like she’s new to the school with a heavy accent!, but instead she just gets directions (damn).

Next operation “Undercover” shows how others get new members. They start with the Judo Club and it seemingly goes well, minus one Yui wanting to join now. Next the go club (where’s Sai from Hikaru no go when he’s needed?) Then the Tea Ceremony club. Finally a mystery club full of UFOs and the like.

Seems like Azusa has finally warmed up enough to be not as serious when it comes to the band.

けいおん!! / K-On!! ED 「Listen!!」

ED: I think this ending is pretty good. I mean yes it’s not Don’t Say Lazy but still I like it, the clothes they’re wearing look pretty good and the girl in the beginning I think represents an opposite version of Mio in every way. I totally got into this.

Overall thoughts: I liked this episode a lot and can’t wait for the new one next week. I think Kyoani has caught my attention since they killed most of my hopes for a good anime from them with the burning piece of shit Endless Eight was. So if you liked the first season I highly recommend this. Though if you don’t like moe or K-On! then this is not for you.

About

I like Mecha mostly, but do dabble into Slice of Life, and others usually. I can often be found on 4chan's /m/ lurking. As one of Sekijitsu's more lazy members, she can often be found on irc channels, and just watching random animes.

I enjoyed the first episode. I thought it flowed pretty well and it didn't seem like they forced many of the jokes as I seem to remember them doing a lot in the first season.

The ED isn't nearly as good as Don't Say Lazy either but I still liked the video. Yui looked pretty good….

    • Indeed I saw that too.
They forced a lot of the jokes? in what way?

Yes but in time we'll grow used to it, and yes she did.

Also this is supposed to be 24 episodes.
My recent post K-On!! Episode 01

I dunno, they just felt…….forced lol. I think they stood out a lot, rather than just blending in with the girls' conversations.
