OP:
「My Soul, Your Beats!」 by Lia
Genres: Action, Comedy-drama, FantasyThemes: girls with guns, life after deathNumber of episodes: 13
Episode 1:
So our main character Otonashi suddenly wakes up on a battlefield of sorts and sees a girl with a sniper rifle who tells him if he’s going to help fight Angel. After the rejection he goes to talk to Angel and winds up dead (temporarily as they don’t permanently die). So he wakes up in the nurses office of a school where he meets someone yelling at him for being rude to Yuri and says he must die 100 times. After his beatings are done he wanders into the meeting room for the “Like Hell I’m Dead” Society, so he finally joins and is issued a Glock 17 (a handgun for people unfamiliar with this term). So their master plan this time is for the school band to play a concert so they can suck up tickets, with a large vacuum of sorts while the offensive team goes all out against Angel. (Already better then After School Tea Time). After the concert is through we see Yuri and Otonashi talking about how everyone else in the school are npcs and any real interaction with them will make you disappear and that they’re mission is to go against god which Angel is on the side of.
Episode 2:
This episode is all about needing new weaponry so they have to journey to the underground armory. Our episode begins with a meeting of the now SSS Brigade discussing their plans to go and get new weaponry to fight Angel. On the way there the Angel Traps were not disabled so this causes some chaos. So one by one another bites the dust (Insert Queen song here.) Once there are 3 left (Yuri, Otonashi, and Shiina) they have to be much more careful though in the end Shiina dies from rescuing a fake kitten with a bomb in it because of her soft side. So Otonashi asks Yuri what it was like when she lived, so she explains her life story. She was the oldest among her siblings and one day when her parents were not home burglars robbed the place and made Yuri get something valuable for them or her siblings would die. She tried to lift a vase but it broke and they died, and she clarifies she did not kill herself (Kinda sad really how they died and she couldn’t save them). Once Yuri and Otonashi arrive they have to fend off Angel and get the Armory workers to destroy the current Armory and retreat to the old abandoned one. To buy some time Yuri fights off Angel in a knife fight until they’re ready and destroy the place. Once all that is over everyone revives and the episode ends.
Episode 3: My Song
This episode we see more members revealed and more concerts from my new favorite band in anime; Girls Dead Rock (SUCK ON THAT After School Tea Time!) We see another mission briefing this time concerning an assault on Angel’s home. To do this they bring in a hacker who calls himself Christ.
So we learn more on Iwasawa’s past as her parents constantly fought and she had no room or way to escape it. One day she discovers great music (sounds like me minus the parents fighting), and finds an Acoustic lying out in the rain (why leave a good guitar in the rain?), and becomes a street performer in her spare time. We learn she had great grades at school but she just wanted to be away from her parents. She got part time jobs and kept auditioning for record labels but one day she collapsed due to a stroke. Thanks to her parents fighting there was an accident and she cursed her fate so I guess she either died from suicide or something else as it wasn’t reveals (Sad story really).
I must say the concert they put on is pretty good, much better than the K-On! Girls. We cut back to the SSS Brigade lock picking, and then entering Angel’s room. Otonashi, still not with the program, keeps saying it’s trespassing and it’s a normal girls room. We cut back to the concert with the band playing Alchemy early on to draw more of a crowd. Teachers show up to try and break it up though the students don’t want to go and protest instead. We go back to Christ running a password cracking program and finds a list of students that they’re also on. They fail once more as Angel returns, and they must retreat. A teacher tries to throw out Iwasawa’s Acoustic guitar from when she was alive, but she snatches it back. The rest of the band fight back and get their instruments back. Iwasawa starts playing the ballad that was rejected earlier to calm down everyone (great song). Due to her retrieval of her acoustic guitar, she finally disappears forever (sad since I liked her too. She’s now also gone from the ED)
ED: 「Brave Song」
Overall Thoughts: I think this is a great series with the main character (who looks a lot like Haruhi Suzumiya) being very funny and serious on parts. I will definitely keep on watching this. This is also the first anime from P.A. Works that I’ve seen and I must say it is impressive. They really do a great job and I Highly recommend this for any fan of anime. For the 10 other episodes to come I would say Otonashi will start remembering more of his past, which is probably violent in a way, as it seems that’s the way they come to be. As for Angel I’m not sure if she is a representative of god or God himself since she can develop her own weapons, though I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

The censored out images were references to Miyazaki's Castle in the Sky and Howl's Moving Castle.
Also I've lost my motivation to watch this with the red head gone.
My recent post Inside the Inbou
Yeah, it'd kinda sad they killed off the lead singer to Girls Dead Monster so quickly. I guess someone else will have to take over for vocals.

Ah I figured it was maybe referncing that but as I still need to watch it I had no damned clue.
Why not watch it for the Haruhi(God) Look alike? and at least it has a good plot.
yo, I can’t add a comment to posts because of a weird error so I have to wait until you comment to reply LOL
I never heard of this anime before, all little different from what I usually watch, but your review makes it worth checking out! Microsoft ftw >;)
