Bleach ch402

Shot through the heart, and you're to blame...

402 – Deicide 4 The return of Urahara into the mix may have just changed things for Aizen, as his appearance sets the stage for a grand reunion between the two former Gotei 13 captains. Aizen still holds the hogyouku so the momentum hasn’t shifted yet. Does Urahara have a plan?

01_bleach402 Summary: Everyone is shocked to see Urahara make his return into the scene, as his reappearance managed to stall Aizen’s transformation. Urahara remarks at how unusual Aizen’s new outfit is. He asks whether he had fully fused with the hogyouku, but Aizen disapproves of the term, as he sees it more as the hogyouku choosing to follow him instead, the same hogyouku that had rejected Urahara. Urahara agrees that he had failed to control it, but that was a long time ago, implying that he would be able to fully utilize it in his present state. Aizen catches on to Urahara and calls him a soreloser for failing to let go of the past. In the middle of his talk however, he instantly transports himself to Urahara and successfully impales him, adding that he had lost his chance of controlling the stone the moment Aizen took control of it.

02_bleach402 To Aizen’s surprise however, Urahara disappears as it wasn’t his true body which got skewered, with the real Urahara appearing behind him conjuring and successfully trapping him in a kidou. Aizen says that this level of kidou would not be enough to restrain him so Urahara further adds even more restraining kidous in order to find out how many he would need. This manages to surprise Aizen a little but he is even more shocked at the incantation that Urahara was starting to chant. Realizing what he was about to do, it was all too late as Urahara manages to release the hadou just in time to attack him.

03_bleach402 As the smoke clears however, everyone was shocked to see Aizen unscathed as he reappears behind Urahara in a semi-transformed state. Urahara realizes this too late as Aizen successfully injures him with a swift movement of his arm. Aizen states that there is no reason for him to let his guard down now that the hogyouku is in his body, as he does not see any threat in Urahara’s high level kidous. Urahara still thinks that he had indeed let his guard down, as the Aizen of old would never give him the opportunity to try out different level kidous like that on him. Out of nowhere, restrains appear, fully trapping Aizen’s hands as Urahara explains that they are seals that act by trapping the two exit point for reiatsu in every shinigami. With no exit point, Aizen explodes from the overexertion of his own reiatsu.

04_bleach402 My Thoughts: Urahara’s return has really amped up this series for me. He shows us now that it is possible to actually get into Aizen’s head a little, as their chit-chat and mind-games serve a pretty entertaining subplot in the chapter. Clearly the two have major history together and this tension creates a much greater fight in the process. It was also refreshing to see Urahara’s extensive knowledge in kidou come into play, as he was literally just spamming out one after the other. Aizen was still pretty up himself at that point but Urahara held an attacking clinic which everyone else should follow. If one doesn’t work, just follow through with as many more as you can cos Aizen ain’t gonna fall that easily.

05_bleach402 With Aizen’s transformation though, things are gonna get interesting. He is not gonna fall after that last attack at the end there so I wonder how he will be countering Urahara’s attacks from now on. What I can bet on is the fact that the half-transformation seen here when he dodged that first level-90 hadou was just a foreshadow of what’s to come. The next chapter will probably show him fully covered up in the hogyouku, at a more advanced stage than what we saw in this one. It makes sense since this fight isn’t gonna stop after one chapter and that would mean major trouble for Urahara and co. I doubt we will see his bankai just yet and Urahara seems more than experienced enough to know when he is being toyed with or not so it’s definitely not an illusion of some sort.

06_bleach402 Since the two are clearly standing toe to toe at this point, it makes me wonder what Isshin is doing on the sidelines. He was matching Aizen blow for blow before Urahara’s intervention so he’s no dead-weight. I’d love to see a tag-team combo between the two if this whole hogyouku-induced Aizen is too much for Urahara. That would definitely even things out a bit. Worse comes to worse, Yoruichi will come over for help but I actually see her backing up Ichigio when Gin starts to do his own transformations. The delay in Urahara’s appearance also got me thinking. Why would he reveal himself so late in the game? Is it because he was trying to assess the situation or was he setting up some traps of his own? I’m guessing the latter which would be pretty cool. Perhaps he revealed himself this early only because Aizen was starting to transform, so he’s stalling for Yoruichi to further reinforce and finish up their trap? Who knows, but it does lead to some interesting possibilities.

  • Isshin is no longer important in this series. Besides, we should question what ALL THE OTHER CHARACTERS are doing while Urahara and Aizen trying to outsmart each other.
My recent post Angel Beats! episode 6

  • I'm happy to see Urahara back in the game but worried about hogyouku merging with Aizen, which he calls taking over. However, I don't think Urahara was wasting his time while all the captains were keeping busy with Espada. It piqued my interest when he said he couldn't control it when he invented it but things have changed since then. Of course I can't think that Aizen was obliterated with the ending hadou but I hope there was some damage!

And yeah, I'm gonna kill Kubo Tite if he switched to Hueco Mundo!

    • I'd love to see Urahara have another crack at controlling the hogyouku. The man seems to have come up with a plan and I wonder if there is a possibility of the hogyouku changing hands anytime soon.

  • Flags says:

I have a feeling that Isshin is a member of some sort of Squad 0. Perhaps a former captain. And that Ichigo's mother was the daughter of whoever is the King of Soul Society. Which would make Ichigo royalty.

Or maybe he was brewed in a lab as part hollow…………

    Those two….one or the other.

    • Lol I thought the same too. I remember writing something similar to those lines in the previous chapters. It would definitely be an interesting turn of events.

  • Vivi says:

Grrr I hate Aizen so much, I'm really behind but I'm still mad at him for what he did to Hitsugaya & Hinamori ):<

Darlin', you give love a bad name.

    • Lol how far behind are you? If you're not up to this latest fight, I think you'll be even more mad of what else he did to those two "orz

      • Vivi says:

WHAT fffffffffffffffffffffffffff- if only his new look wasn't so cool…

I stopped at the start of the Arrancar arc haha.

  • Ah: I was waiting for this. Urahara's so awesome! Yoruichi can't be far behind – unless she's in Hueco Mundo (it's a possibility, right?). I don't expect Urahara'll be able to beat Aizen, per say, but I really don't want to see him so easily defeated like all the other Captains thus far. Urahara is definitely one person who's probably just as smart if not smarter than Aizen and it's nice to see his power after all this time. I would like a tag-team effort between Urahara and Isshin; they seem to be on fairly familiar terms with each other, esp considering they were both bound to the real world for one reason or another.

    • Hmmm that's another thought. Yoruichi might be helping out with the Yami situtation. Not bad at all XD

And yea, if there's anyone who can outwit Aizen, it would be Urahara. We haven't seen the guy for so long, hopefully Kubo won't cut the party short any time soon. I was really underwhelmed with how he handled the Yamamoto situation..

      • I think what's interesting about Yamamoto is while he is certainly the most prominent Shinigami, he's definitely not the most popular, and so I wasn't all that surprised to see him get tossed aside so quickly – though it was disappointing because while he's not the most popular, everyone did want to see what he was capable of having never seen him fight very much.
