Kaichou wa Maid-sama! 5 & 6
…And no nonsense Misa is back in all her iron-fisted class president glory. While the first of these episodes deals with some stalker business (let’s ignore the fact that Usui is the most stalker-ish character of the show), the latter one went with a much lighter tone; both had some shockingly adorable dere! Misaki moments, though.

After hearing so much about some incidents involving maid cafes being targeted by stalkers, Usui is wary that they’d target the lead of a shoujo series next. It seems like he knows his plot devices well; of course, those stalkers do eventually show up. There probably isn’t any need to be concerned though. I mean, Misaki only knows a bajillion different ways to beat someone up. Usui should know this already, but he’s still worried about her.
These guys are too cute. They’re so devoted to their taichou that it makes me wonder how they still manage to stick around despite the abuse that’s piled on them. It’s fascinating to see how they’re attracted to Misaki’s crazy, commanding side as well as her calm and kind self at Maid Latte. Having such a dynamic lead is a powerful draw to this show, and what’s not to love about that tsundere personality? Even the twin tails that she sports in the next episode classify her as a Type S Zettai Ryouiki user. No wonder she has so many fanboys (although it did get her into a little trouble with those stalkers).
I’m still left wondering why Usui does the things he does (as Misa laments). As Kyokai has noted, we still don’t know why, with all the girls who would drop dead at the prospect of dating him, he would choose Misaki as his only romantic love interest. He doesn’t seem to have anything other to do all day then follow her around and annoy her (well, I guess it must be pretty fun). While these episodes seemed to serve as small episodic adventures in the characters’ lives, it lets us probe a little deeper into Misaki and Usui’s personalities; Misaki gets more reasons to despise guys, and Usui makes some more moves on Misaki. Some of them were slightly disturbing.
On to the next episode! Some more humorous events, and I’m going to admit that when I first saw the quintuplets I thought that the animators had just gotten tired of designing more useless side characters and duplicated one guy for the shot, haha~ Nah, they’re just more of Misaki’s fanboys.
The good stuff in this episode is all at the end. I’m at a loss for words right now so I’ll let these screencaps do the trick:

Overall Thoughts: Ability to leap off tall buildings aside, I wasn’t bothered by Usui’s perfectness these past two episodes (compared to his stalker tendencies… although it’s only because he was worried about Misaki). I don’t mind, since everyone’s traits are flanderized to such an extent that it’s all in the name of humor. Like our tsun-tsun says, he is a total “perverted space alien” and doesn’t make any sense at all.
Speaking of humor, it’s made Maid-Sama! a great watch. The baka trio’s antics are so pathetic it’s endearing, and Misaki’s manager is adorable. I loved Usui’s reactions to Misa’s antics (that cat-eyed stare is fantastic), and seeing Misa destroy overweight-glasses-guy and creepy-guy-with-hair-in-front-of-his-eyes certainly was entertaining.
On the relationship front, Misaki is definitely warming up to Usui and his over protectiveness. The fact that they’re both model students is bringing back some fond memories of Kare Kano, although Maid-sama! is nothing like it. The chemistry between the two is still enjoyable as ever; as Ryan puts it, Usui is Misaki’s “Everest” and their conflicts are the central part of the plot and their relationship. I too would like to see something different, something that changes things up a little.
Seeing fanboys and fangirls on either side is entertaining, although it accentuates the fact that they can only really end up with each other. The last little scene at the end of episode six was pretty sweet, although I wondered how Misaki is really reacting to that kiss. It’s pretty obvious that he likes her now, right? So I suppose the rest of the run will be trying to get her to return those feelings. The grudging respect and blushing “thank-yous” are already there; I agree with Zyl. Misa’s dere moments were great to watch, and hopefully it’ll lead to some more progress between the two.
Lastly, I can empathize with Yukimura. So much.
Also, apologies must be made to all those who wanted to be spanked by Misa. I don’t think a certain someone would allow that~

for the most part, Misaki's becoming a bit more better when it comes to her man-hate. Usui's defrosting the ice queen just fine and the fact he practically has no flaws is a bit baffling, but his personality makes up for that.
STEALING A KISS FROM HER WAS AWESOME.
My recent post Naruto Beats
Yep, some nice character development so far. Gotta admire Usui for going for it, and I love his deadpan expressions.
YES! this was the episode i was waiting for~ chapter 4 of the manga :D
definitely one of the turning points in the story that eventually leads up to the climax (of their relationship?!?)..( i'm not even sure what is OF the story)
Usui has shiny lips xD
btw. has anyone notice that Usui's eyes look horribly disformed in the next episode preview portion of the episode?
*shudders*
My recent post IT’S FRIDAY!*lets out deep breathe*&*collapses on bed*
Haha, didn't they rearrange things a little? Compared to the manga, I thought I remembered it a little differently.
I am wondering where this is all leading up too, though. Usui looked a little off/weird a lot this episode… lol, shiny lips? Still, can't wait for the next ep, its been getting better every week.
for ep 5
I want misaki to spank me lol XD
for ep 6
LOVED this episode,
the part with the kiss, and confession =)
hehe
im going to try and get enough points to get a virtual pic with pony tail misaki <3
I'm pretty sure you weren't alone there, Fabrice ;D Episode six was a favorite of mine, as well.
I wish you luck with your endeavours! All the best >.<-b
People complaining about this series, should see these two episodes and change their minds. The pacing is great and comedy is refreshing. Usui is turning out to be one cool cat and of course Misaki's aloofness is simply adorable!

I was really happy to see a kiss relatively early in the show, instead of having to wait weeks and weeks for it. I love their relationship so far, it's a ton of fun to watch! People on the fence about watching should definitely give it a try.
The comedy was definitely great in these episodes, though some of them were just bland on occasion. The manager's certainly a gem.
You already cited this in your thoughts, but I'm still gonna disagree anyways: I'm really bothered by Usui's perfectionism. I can see the director's/mangaka's reason for such an approach (comedic relief), but I honestly didn't find it quite that funny.
Otherwise, great two episodes, especially that last one.
(One note: When you mean "emphasize" with Yukimura, do you mean "empathize"…? Or was that meant to be there?)
Gah! Emphasize, empathize, it starts to make less of a difference at 3am in the morning… thanks for the heads up though. Go ahead and disagree! That's what opinions and blogs are for (is it that's or thats?). I hear that Usui only gets more perfect as the series goes on, when we can add violin and chess to his list of abilities…
Jumping off buildings is totally doable. Usui fell through a tree (branches are good to slow a fall), and that, along with the pool is more than enough for me to not be troubled over it… (coming from someone who's fell through trees from 10+m onto dirt…. it's not that far-fetched. His timing was impeccable though; so good.

Lol, well I'll take your word from it since you have experience XD I'd have thought that getting thwacked by branches would make it more painful, but thank goodness for that pool. Yep, gotta admire that perfect timing.
