Aizen? Is that you?

「 403 – Deicide 5 」Urahara’s deadly blast at the end of the last chapter seemed to have worked a treat on Aizen, but no one is convinced that the battle is over just yet. As expected, Aizen appears out of the blast in one piece but what sort of surprises does he have in store now?

Chapter 403 – Deicide 5

Summary: Everyone is in awe of the fireworks show Urahara provided with his last attack but Urahara is not convinced that the battle is over yet, since he knows Aizen will reappear again in a few minutes. Right on cue, Aizen reappears from the sky once again but this time in a completely different form, as the hogyouku has now fully covered his entire body with a full suit armor. In the blink of an eye, Aizen teleports himself right beside the heroes as he reveals that the attack would have been successful against his former self, but not with the hogyouku embedded in his body. He then takes off the shackles from his wrists from Urahara’s last kidou, egging him on to continue with the fight.

Isshin is first up to the plate as he attacks Aizen from behind, with Urahara manning the front with a full on tag-team combo. Through their teamwork, they manage to restrain Aizen somewhat as both his legs and arms are now tied through chains. Out of nowhere, in comes Yoruichi from the top to pummel Aizen into the ground with her shikai. With waves of attacks coming from above, Aizen is fully grounded but as soon as Yoruichi started to drop her guard, Aizen manages to destroy her leg brace, but she barely escapes thanks to a timely warning beforehand from Urahara. As soon as the heroes regrouped, Aizen states that he’s going to get serious from now on, as his zanpaktou appears as he powers up his reiatsu.

My Thoughts: The inevitable just happened. Aizen powered himself up to a whole ‘nother whoopin level. Everyone saw this coming and it was stupid to even consider the battle being done like that, just as Urahara had warned. Anyway, about that new redesign of Aizen……yea it’s just not working for me. I know he’s all elegant and the like, and he’s now all streamlined and modern and future-proof as fuck, but all I see when I look at him is just a lazy excuse to simplify a design. Lol less is more blah blah blah but when you take out Aizen’s trademark arrogant look and replace it with a blank canvas with two eyes, I just don’t really like it. I can’t really connect the dots between the Aizen of old and now and the redesign is part of that. Still though, it’s nifty how they managed to have a little swoop at the back of his head for his signature hair. Nice touch. Also, is it just me or does he look a lot like Etemon from Digimon, Greenman from It’s Always Sunny and Anti-Spiral from TTGL? I’m just saying…..

As for his powers, it seems like he’s had a massive speed boost but he doesn’t seem to be above getting the surprise hurled at him, much like how Yoruchi appeared out of nowhere to pummel him into the ground. Also, an interesting thing to note is how his zanpaktou is now absorbed into his arm in that last panel. This may be a new power of his, or maybe he just doesn’t have hands, but it’s interesting to see what this may mean in the battle. I wouldn’t be surprised if he can magically make his sword appear from different parts of his body, since it now seems to be a part of his whole. That would definitely be something to look out for.

It’s also awesome to see Yoruichi make her reappearance in such a grand fashion. Looks like even she has had a redesign, this time showing way more skin than the past. While I’m all down for the fanservice, and she does look hella hot in that getup, I gotta say that I still love her old attire more. The ninja suit she wore back in the SS arc was really nicely designed and it really suited her character and her abilities to a T. Then again, I’m not complaining since I’m sure here new outfit will come with it’s own fair share of bells and whistles.

I’m guessing that in the next chapter, the newly formed tag-team of former badass captains will have a go at the now pissed Aizen. With Aizen now declaring all-out war on the heroes, I’m guessing that we will have a glimpse at some of the hogyouku’s powers. The sword thing was probably a hint towards this and I am sure that whatever Aizen does at this point will be out of anyone’s understanding. Urahara now will have things cut out for him but at least he has a full-team to strategize with. I’m just hoping Gin and Ichigo won’t stand around watching though. They seem pretty out of it at the moment, especially Ichigo.
