01_naruto-495 Summary: Bee now agrees to tag along with Naruto on his kyuubi-taming mission and promptly thanks him for trying to help Motoi out. The two then get into their own little rapping session and Bee again extends his fist to Naruto, which he gladly responds to. Thankfully for everyone the two seem to hit it off pretty well due to their similar personalities, although their rapping leaves a lot to be desired. With the two now chums, they head off back to the waterfall one more time to test their luck once more.

02_naruto-495 Not long after, Dark Naruto appears once more through the waterfall wondering if Naruto is ready for another meaningless fight. He can’t defeat himself, since he knows everything about him. Naruto then replies that that would mean that he knows what the others feeling at every turn. Since they’re both in a dream world, Naruto focuses on an image that appears to them both in the air; his signature. He knows now that he is willing to accept that the village has now accepted him as their hero, leaving no room for any lingering doubt in his mind. Dark Naruto attempts to retort by reminding him how harshly they were treated in the past but Naruto believes that he now believes in himself, after seeing how much faith Bee had in himself through all his times of trouble.

03_naruto-495 Dark Naruto slowly loses his strength as he asks Naruto whether he is just another obstacle to him. Naruto says that without him, he may not be as strong as he is now which leads to Dark Naruto asking what he will do with himself now. Naruto simply answers by saying that the two were one, so he should just follow Naruto’s lead. After thanking Dark Naruto for opening his eyes, Naruto finally conquered his inner demons and successfully completed the waterfall test. With Naruto now successful, Bee deems it appropriate to carry on with the training, as he takes it upon himself to guide Naruto from now on. He leads Naruto and Yamato behind the waterfall, where they are greeted by a hidden cave filled with Hachibi carvings along the walls. Bee reveals that this is where they will fight against the Kyuubi in order to control it.

04_naruto-495 My Thoughts: And here’s the finale to the most boring training obstacle yet. Boring in it’s execution, as well as it’s apparent morals. While it has been quite a grind to get through sometimes (*cough* Motoi flashback *cough*), I’m glad that we’re finally moving on from the inevitable “Conquer one’s self” plotline and onto some more badass stuff, as foreshadowed by Bee on the last page. At the start of the chapter, I had fears of this chapter turning out as bad as the past two but thankfully as the pages turned, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Don’t get me wrong, the chapter is still well below my expectations and I can’t really say that I enjoyed it, but at least it was easy to get through with minimal fuss thanks to the painfully linear storyline.

05_naruto-495 With Naruto and Bee starting things off with their little rapping battle, I can’t help but cringe thanks to the horrible lines they were throwing out. This reached it’s peak when Bee turned around to give his own spin on Naruto’s “dattebayo” but I’m guessing Kishi was fully going for laughs at that point. Cringe-worthy and painful it may be, but I did chuckle a bit inside at how ridiculous Bee and Naruto really are, so I guess you can chalk that up as a success in that respect. Moving on, the whole “believing in myself” speech Naruto gave was understandably cliched and what not but it was actually done in a very straightforward manner, no hassles, no fuss. It just read smoothly and even though I felt like I just wanted to shove a knive up my gut, I persevered and was thankfully rewarded with a glimpse at the future chapters.

06_naruto-495 Since Bee has now outwardly expressed his acceptance of Naruto, as well as his word with teaching him through the next few tasks, things are finally looking on the up. And guess what? Motoi has to go home!! Best news all day and that was pretty much the highlight of this arc so far. I guess Kishi was reading the blogs and messageboards when he made that decision, Motoi was just never going to be a success with us readers. With Bee now pretty much explicitly revealing that the trio are now gonna fight Kyuubi in the cave, things are finally going to get epic. I have a feeling that the next few chapters will consists of Naruto once again entering his mind but this time, he’s going to try and convince the kyuubi. This is a million times more entertaining than facing Dark Naruto I’d say, cos this will potentially lead to some mind games. That on it’s own is a clear win to me if done right, and add in Kyuubi’s personality and whatever else he may possibly reveal, the next few chapters should be an upgrade over this one.

With the way the cave is arranged, I’m guessing at one point they will have to release Kyuubi out. Definitely not the actual kyuubi, cos that’s just suicide, but maybe something similar to Dark Naruto, where it occurs in a dream-like state where Bee and Yamato are able to enter. Hopefully the pace won’t be as snail-slow as the past but with the way things have been, the least Kishi could do for us is to amp up this arc again. Oh, and maybe Kisame can finally start to make his move and actually do something. It’s been eerily quiet on his front, as well as Gais.

  • Reading this training arc with Killer Bee has been painful thus far. Kyuubi had better not be messed up as a character when he manifests since he’s quite a sinister entity, and I’m really looking forward to how Naruto’s going to fight to control him.

    • Yea, it’s like watching paint dry.

Thankfully for us, it can only get better at this point as things start to amp up. Hopefully this next one isn’t as half-assed as the last, since the build-up has been agonizingly slow.

With characters like the kyuubi though, it shouldn’t be too hard to make this good

    • Gonna be hilarious when Naruto and Kyuubi start talking. Will they be BFF like what Killer Bee has or will they be frenemies?

      • Flags says:

What? Like Naruto and Sasuke? Because that turned out great………
Also, I have a theory: The unrevealed coffin that Kabuto showed to Madara a few chapters back is Rin. It was the only one I could think of that made sense. If Madara is Obito, and we know that Rin is dead but we don’t know how. I can only assume that Masashi is waiting to reveal that. That would also explain Madara’s reaction to the coffin.

  • What’s with all the hugging and gay theme in naruto lately? It kills the action!

    • Judging by the ending, the action is -FINALLY- resuming next week.

Things have been too mellow lately, it’s killing the vibe
