House of Five Leaves 8
Matsu; the thief with a heart of gold. I don’t think thieves have been such good people since the merry men themselves. At this rate Otake is going to be the owner of an orphanage or something. Unlike last week’s Yaichi and Masa time, this week is all about Matsu and Matsu’s droopy eyes. Well, we all saw this coming last week but what we didn’t see coming was a “to be continued”. What the fuck is this, Outlaw Star? If you’re going to use “to be continued” the only way I will except it is if there is an exclamation mark, and all three words are flashed on the screen individually first with gun shots!
OH SHI—run kid, it’s the cops! Oh wait, never mind. Now I can see why a kid would find Ume scary, but to find Masa scary is like finding Sakura scary…
What the—okay never mind that one, it would be like finding Rina scar…….
WHAT ABOUT DENPA TEKI NA KANO………
NOT YOU TOO! Okay, calm down. Ok, I know, it would be like if Yui was a yandere…
OH WHAT THE FU—
SHIKI-CHAN KAWAII!!!
What was I talking about again…….Oh right; Matsu. So Matsu has a son that is very sick; a son who he has probably never met. Matsu is a man of responsibility though and sends the money he earns from the Five Leaves to his babies mama in order to pay for the child’s care. He also took on a loan from the owner of Kiku-ya after failing to rob him. Add to that what we know from his run in with Yaichi and Matsu owes his life to two people. So Matsu fails at helping out the owner of Kiki-ya and gets himself tied up and thrown in a shed, Shion would be proud.
Masa walks in like a badass and Matsu comments on how he is going to owe three people now. BADUM CH! Well, I thought it was a punch line at least, apparently the episode did too because that’s where it ended. Damn you Manglobe and your making me want to watch the next episode two days before I usually want to! The thing about two-parters though is that it feels as though not much happened this episode, which isn’t true it is just that I always get that feeling, it’s the same way that Darker than Black felt like a twelve episode show. Actually never mind, Darker than Black felt its full length, it’s just that twelve of the episodes sucked.
I have a feeling that Masa is going to ask for the hairpin Matsu said he couldn’t touch and that it will make them even or something like that. Masa is the type to not ask for anything but Matsu is the type to give everything; he’s the devoted type to Ume’s tsundere. Hmmm, I suppose that makes Yaichi the cold type, maybe we’ll see some dere before the end, very unlikely though. Yaichi must have some real self-restraint; he didn’t even jump on Masa when he had his hair down. Something this episode revealed though is that apparently Otake attracts the single guys with kids!
I laughed when Yagi said that he liked the way Yaichi looked, and then Yaichi walked away. I can just picture Yaichi in his kawaii pink kimono blushing in a corner somewhere because of that compliment. I have been looking over the shows for next season, and I can’t find one that looks as though it will have a good bromance. I’m the kind of guy that likes a good bromance so it’s disappointing that next season looks so dull. The Legend of Legendary Heroes, aside from having the best name for an anime that I’ve ever heard looks the most likely for a bromance. Wait, what’s this I’ve just found……..forget the prior, forget all else, because next season the bromance of bromances will return.
OYAKATA-SAMA!!
YUKIMURA!!

I just knew it that you would use that capture of Masa and Ume. This was the first time I really thought of him as total badass! You just did not do that reference series but oh well, so you. Huggles Shiki-chan.
Finally Masa is doing something willfully rather than being pushed to by Ichi. This Yagi dude gives me the creeps for some reason. He sure has some ulterior motives. Though picturing Ichi blushing and running off is just too funny. I’ve started liking Matsu and never thought that was possible. Now he has three people he’s indebted to.
Sengoku’s Oyakatasamaaaa was epic indeed, dunno what they are pulling in the second one. Though Uraboku would still be on for 15 more epis. So, some bromance around for sure.
PS: I can make these flowery carrots and they are seriously easy to make. Want tips?
"Finally Masa is doing something willfully rather than being pushed to by Ichi."
Yeah, Masa is usually quite passive, so in a way it is good to see him taking action. Unfortunately I've got bad feelings about this "plan". Plus, as you suggested, Yagi doesn't instill a lot of confidence, so his involvement has me worried.
Discovered this anime a few days ago and i love it ! The characters are awesome and i love this period of Japan history.
