Amagami SS 3

Is she actually using a rotary phone? In this day and age?

Hibiki-chan is a man’s best friend. The ultimate wing-woman; an ally to the end! Okay, well maybe not that last one, but that chick is awesome. It’s too bad that Hibiki isn’t one of the heroines to be captured, as I’m sure that she has some secret along the lines of being a ninja. There was not as much engrish in this episode when compared with last time; I even kept a list of whenever she used engrish and there were only seven cases this time. Three of which were the word “WOW!”. Hopefully next episode will have some better engrish uses, while they are always welcome; it is always nice to be surprised by new ones. Since next episode is going to be Christmas I have to assume that the episode will open with some sort of drama, since so far there have been zero misunderstandings which must be some sort of record when it comes to romance anime/manga.

The eyes!

I forgot about this since it has been a little while since reading Kimikiss and watching the anime, as well as reading Amagami, but the writer happens to have very specific fetishes. Well I should say that he has a fetish for people being kissed everywhere and legs; they have a huge fetish for legs. We cannot forget about Eriko the master of kissing through experimentation. Compared to what I know about Eriko from Kimikiss and Ayatsuji from Amagami, Haruka is an unbelievably normal girl. Well, other than her strange fetish for role-playing in the middle of lunch. I’ll be honest if I was sitting eating udon or something and I saw a girl a table over with her hands behind her back saying; “Give it to me!” I don’t know what I would do. However Junichi made me laugh really hard after he started doing his “kidnapper” voice. The moment his voice suddenly changed something that sounded like a bad anime villain I almost spat out my Dr. Pepper.

....um....I forgot..

The whole thing about kissing Haruka behind the knees made me laugh. I mean, if you saw two high schoolers leave a small shed on the outskirts of the school you’d probably guess that they’d just been going at it like bunnies. Oh well, if there’s one thing I love about anime/manga romances it’s their habit of being pure and wonderfully innocent, while still being very sexually explorative. I wish I could remember the name of this one manga I read, which believe it or not had no sex, abuse or even nudity. Even though the story was about two childhood friends who start to do S&M play in order to give the “perfect” girl a breather; the guy was one of those ordinary, not attractive guys but still loved her and she loves him too, though neither will admit it. It’s actually a very nice love story, with S&M!

What happens here? Nothing, and Everything!

Now something that I’ve been meaning to talk about but forgot for the last two posts was how awesome the uniforms in this anime are. They look like actual uniforms and they are still freaking awesome. The girls have a lot of variation within their uniforms and the guys get to wear ‘Men in Black’ suits! Also black uniforms are automatically favoured in my big book of anime uniforms. Not that I’m against some of the ridiculous ones you see in anime; I’m as big a fan of the ‘Clannad’ summer uniforms as the next guy, but sometimes the uniforms are just a bit too much. An example I’ll use will be from another Key series I love; Kanon. Where the winter uniform on the girls is just a tad too ridiculous, do they really expect me to believe that any girl will wear a skirt that short in winter? Maybe it’s because I live in Canada, but even I’m not crazy enough to wear a short skirt in winter!

No one is impressed with his Spirit Bomb...

I don’t know if any of you read Kimi ni Todoke (other than Kyo-pyon) but the most recent chapter was one of the cutest things I’ve read in a while. It was so cute I almost forgot how cute the couple of previous chapters had been, and believe me they were SUGOKU KAWAII! However even Kimi ni Todoke would find it hard to beat the cuteness in Vampire Alone, that series is so damn cute and definitely a little favourite of mine. Something that I’m sure will happen in Amagami SS at some point is collar nibbling; it definitely seems like the type of fetish that will come up in this anime. I wonder how much further the sexual stuff will go in Amagami; I imagine that a full on snogging is the limit here but who knows, after all ‘Gantz’ aired on TV as though it was an anime. Though I don’t think that you could get any closer to a hentai posing as an anime than ‘Gantz’.

  • Haha, love the Spirit Bomb reference. I think Hibiki's job is just to weed out guys who aren't into Haruka enough to withstand her crazy tastes. I was laughing so much during that cafeteria scene, and the villain voice was just completely outstanding!

  • Is Nana to Kaoru the manga you were thinking about?

And I'm not sure we're ever going to get the full snog in this one. Four episodes seems rather fast to go from nothing to all the way, but then again some of the other haremettes are sporting the childhood friend card. Doubtful, but we'll have to see.

    • Flags says:

According to the manga he'll have a full snog with Nanasaki. Also, yes, Nana to Kaoru is the manga I was thinking of. I wonder if that manga has ended yet, it's been ages since I read it.

      • I think it's still ongoing, and a full snog increases the potential for a bad end considerably.

        • Flags says:

Oi……..if you ever reference 'School Days' again, I swear I'll stop reading your posts! Please don't compare the two ever. I don't want to think bad thoughts for 21 more episodes. Also, read the Amagami Manga (any of them) and I think you'll find them devoid of such horrible ends. :D

  • I did not expect this to be a show for masochists.

  • This episode had better pace than the last two; funnier too with all that blushing-overdose and role-playing. Hopefully this would end well.

PS: You made me spray soup on my laptop with that pyon~!

  • RegisNex says:

heh not bad oh when you said Vampire Alone did you mean Blood Alone

    • Flags says:

….yes………..I meant Blood Alone……….this is the second time I've made a silly mistake this week. Anyway, awesome name, Immortal Regis is one of my favourite series and I can't wait for more Cavalier of the Abyss to come out!

    • Yo Corey is that you speaking in the "video"?

Some thoughts over episode 3 and a response to "that" video. I don't think whether a realistic romance would be the right term to describe what Amagami SS is going for.

Indeed episode 3 did what episode 2 left off in that is to incorporate comedy into the show to further broaden Morishima and Junichi's (had to search that up a bit) already established relationship. So from a standpoint, it is a romance that is believable. Sorta setting up the impact that the final episode of this arc (episode 4) will do.

      @flags

I find it realllllly really awkward this episode 3. I was scratching myself all over just because of the cheesy comedy that is present in this episode. But for some reason I can't ding it for the simple fact that I think I know what they are going for with this episode.

Great reviews man and keep em coming

I just need to scratch myself back to sanity…

      Till then… Trip D's OUT!
