YUI’s Holidays in the Sun
I was thinking of starting music updates with Supercell but that would have been just too predictable, so I’m starting with another favorite of mine: YUI. She has already released four full-length albums since 2006 (From Me to You, Can’t Buy My Love, I Loved Yesterday and Holidays in the Sun) and around 17 singles. This 23-year-old Japanese singer, songwriter is not only a multi-instrumentalist but an actress as well (starred in Midnight Sun). Her signature remains to be guitar-based sound and soothing vocals that are complimented with a dash of well-placed English phrases. YUI’s voice is sweet and compliments well with Pop genre for easy listening with upbeat vibes. I’ve followed her since I first heard her in Bleach’s fifth OP/ED.
Bleach OP5:「Rolling star」 Bleach ED5:「Life」
Listen to her songs when you are driving leisurely, chilling out on the beach, pleasant background music to a close gathering or even during a lonesome stroll or mind-shut. Your feet will tap and head will nod all on their own.
Coming to her latest offering Holidays in the Sun; it was released after a year’s worth of hiatus, which showcases her new-found maturity with not only lyrics but inflecting vocals. The album features all five hit singles released since her comeback, including again (the first OP of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood), It’s all too much (the theme song of the film Kaiji), GLORIA, Summer Song and her latest hit To Mother. I liked most of the tracks, somehow the slower ones more than the upbeat ones. Shake My Heart has a chorus which was pleasant enough to remind me of Vocaloid’s Itsumo Yori Nakimushi chorus that someone at niconico made. Anyway, enjoy YUI’s music as her latest album is definitely ideal for summers.

OMG Yui!
I was so obsessed with her at one point last year, love her music. The fact that she loves the strat/tele guitars just made her that much more appealing to me.
Why are all her albums named in such a way that you can't say that they're rip-offs of Beatles albums, but they still remind you of them way too much?
FFFF shes so cute i want to eat her lol XD …… D:
Love her music!
YUI has always been amazing. I've been waiting for this new album since it was announced, and yet again, she didn't disappoint me. She's one of the few artists where I can enjoy both the upbeat and down-tempo songs equally.
Her voice is cute :) From what I see I also like her simple, relaxed fashion style. Not high-end or incredibly fashionable, but very "real", for lack of a better term.
I love listening to YUI's songs..the first song that i heard was LIFE, & from then on i became a big fan of her..i wish YUI will come perform live in Malaysia someday..she's really talented and eventhough she's so popular she is still so humble..that's why we love YUI! yeay, go YUI!!=))))
I also love YUI's songs, especially her. She's so cute and has a very cuddly voice. She is so unique from most artists. Hope she will perform here in the Philippines. My first song with her is Rolling Star. I just love the beat and the video too… I'm so YUI… You're Undeniably Incredible… hihihiihi
