[NSFW] Ikegami Ryoichi
Okay, I’m going to go right out and say that, despite labeling this post as NSFW, I am not actually posting about hentai. I just wanted to have a post with boobies in it. Sorry, but –hey— isn’t not like hentai is really that hard to find on your own, you know. This post is about manga artist Ikegami Ryoichi who has managed to illustrate a number of manga containing a great many things that give me boners (more on that later). Two of the series mentioned are written by Buronson, the mangaka behind Fist of the North Star and one is written by Ikegami himself. Since none of the three manga have been scanlated beyond the first volume, this post is intended to be more like an introduction.

Okay, number one on the list of “things that give me boners” is Three Kingdoms China (I blame The Ravages of Time for that). This story has an interesting take on the legendary time period. It starts of in ancient Japan, then known as Wa. Ryouu, a warrior from Wa, tells his Queen of his time as an envoy to the land we now know as China, where he met with Cao Cao. Ryouu doesn’t see himself as a man worthy of the Queen (yeah, some bow-chicka-bow-wow was about to be going on) and leaves to return to China in the hopes of ruling it.
Ryouu, like, swims to China or something and encounters Liu Bei. In this story Liu Bei is a massive douchebag. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei fare batter. Guan Yu is observant and intelligent, while Zhang Fei is massively strong, but hot-tempered. Not too far from their usual portrayals, actually. Too give you an idea of Liu Bei douchebaggery, lets just say that his lounges around in a room full of gold, lying on a tiger skin while some half-naked women rub him down. Okay, that doesn’t sound too douchebaggy. That actually sounds kinda cool (if you’re a dude anyway). He also buys the lives of three men to test his new sword’s sharpness on. Now that’s kinda callous, but still pretty badass, I guess.
But then Liu Bei goes and deliberately rapes the girl Zhang Fei is sweet on. Not to say that rape is accidental, but Liu Bei goes after this girl specifically because he knows Zhang Fei has feelings for her. A total dick move on Liu Bei’s part. But then Ryouu goes and kills Liu Bei, so he gets his comeuppance. After that, Guan Yu decides to make Ryouu “Liu Bei” in order to fulfill their ambition to rule China. Since the original Liu Bei had the legitimacy of being related to the Emperor (albeit distantly), without a “Liu Bei” to lead them, the three men have no hope of ruling China.
To shorten an already long summary, Ryou becomes the new Liu Bei, Zhang Fei kinda has a bitch-snit about it and runs off, but he’s too sweet a guy for Ryouu and Guan Yu to do anything about it, so they reunite him with his sweetie instead. And some where in all this Zhao Yun shows up. I most more than a little disappointed (more like crushed) that Ikegami decided to turn my favorite 3K badass Zhao Yun into an somewhat-effeminate looking mustachioed warrior with a raging case of girl hair.
Only the first volume has been scanlated so far (and that was back in January), but I’m looking forward to some more. I’m curious to see how all the characters and events are played out in this version of the Three Kingdoms.

This series is another collaboration between Buronson and Ikegami, but with a much more modern story. It’s set in contemporary-ish Japan (judging from the hideous clothes, I’m going to guess it takes place in the 80’s) and follows Karasawa Tatsumi in his take over of a host club in Shinjuku. The story starts two years after the take over. Karasawa is the successful owner of the club and boss of a small yakuza gang (not that he prefers to call himself yakuza or a boss). Itami is a loan-shark who handles the money side of things, while Kim is the muscle.
In the four chapters released so far, not much has happened. Just some of the usual vignettes of yakuza chicanery. A woman complains over being lied to an overcharged at the bar, so Kim takes her to the back, rapes her and threatens to send a tape of it to her husband’s office if she doesn’t continue to come to the club. Itami kidnaps some women to take them to a brothel. They are illegal immigrants who took out a loan from him to pay off the money they owe the snake-head who smuggled them into the country. Elsewhere, Karasawa is fucking the chief-of-police’s wife when the police bust in to arrest him. Not that they actually arrest him because Karasawa threatens to blab about the wife.
Its probably worth mentioning at this point that Karasawa is quite a handsome dude and pretty much always has his dick in some willing lady. If there is a female in a scene (even in the background), chances are Karasawa will end up fucking her by the end of it. No lie.
Anyway, like I said, not much has happened. About half a chapter in, the story flashes back to how Karasawa got started. Kim is at Itami’s office complaining about getting fired from a host club and not getting his severance package. Karasawa waltzes in wanting a million yen loan, asking Itami to give it to him on faith. Kim gets beat up trying to escort Karasawa out and Itami suggests that, instead of getting a loan, why doesn’t he help Kim get his severance package and make some money the gangster way. Karasawa leaves with Kim saying money wouldn’t be a problem if he owns the host club.
Karasawa gets his deed to the club and lets just say it involves introducing a poisonous snake to the genitals of the Cantonese club owner. From there, Karasawa takes on the Cantonese gangsters to legitimize his ownership of the club. I have to give it to Karasawa, despite his insufferable cockiness, he has balls of solid steel. He’s not intimidated by anyone. Not the police, or the foreign gangs, or even the top yazuka family, Yamaou. He also has the fighting skills to back his shit up. After this, Karasawa goes to get a tattoo on his back of a crane. He tells Kim that this is to symbolize how the weak can top the strong. (Yakuza? Elaborate back tattoos? That’s boner inducing right there.)
From there on, the story goes on to show how Karasawa pretty much pisses off everyone, which leads to the police joining up with the Yamaou yakuza to take him down. The scanlations end there, but since the group who has it just picked it up, I’m expecting more chapters later.

Let me admit that I haven’t actually “read” this one yet. I liked the concept (Samurai! Bakumatsu! Cool tattoos!), so I kinda speed-read it so I could put this post up before I forgot about the details of the other two series. Bestia is about the wandering swordsman Gen Tukinosuke. He is a saishi. The saishi are the descendants of a kind of demon. These demons are poisonous and would therefore kill the women they had sex with (their poison would cover them in green spots). However, some women were immune to the poison and bore the demons children. These children as the saishi and share their sire’s poisonous nature.
In the beginning of the story, Gen is wandering with a crossdressing male prostitute named Gyuuzou (who happens to be in love with him). Gen meets a young woman in the woods who is looking for her lost sparrow. He catches it, gives it to her, gropes her breast and then leaves. All without saying a word. From the direction he had come from, the young woman finds the corpse of a prostitute covered with greet spots. Later the woman gets all hot and bothered thinking about when Gen touched her.
Gen arrives at the young woman’s home –her father is a doctor— carrying a sick woman. The doctor says there is no cure and that her disease is fatal and contagious. The sick woman requests to die in Gen’s arms and, against the doctor’s warnings, he takes the woman into the woods to more or less fuck her to death. The doctor’s daughter, Izumi, follows to spy on Gen and the woman. Gyuuzou is also there, creepily watching them while masturbating. Afterwards, Gyuuzou tells Izumi about the saishi and their poison.
The doctor later finds the woman’s happily smiling, but green spotted, corpse and surmises that Gen is one of the saishi, which were thought to have been wiped out long ago. The samurai in the doctor’s house (who all seem to have a thing for the daughter) decide to go after Gen. They follow Izumi into the woods, where she has returned with her sparrow to meet Gen. He is ambushed by the samurai, but cuts them all down. The daughter tells Gen that she knows he’s a saishi and is willing to risk death to love him. And by “love” I mean “sex”, because apparently they are the same thing here. When Gen leaves later, she is nothing more than a greet spotted corpse. However, in the morning the spots disappear and Izumi awakens.
The next part switches to a (presumably) later time. A young prostitute, Aren, is tattooed with a snake by her lover. The snake only appears in the throes of passion or when she is intoxicated. This tattoo also seems to drain the life from the men she sleeps with as, after several days of passion, her lover dies. Aren is also the concubine of a rich merchant who confronts her with her affair when she returns home. She kills him with her hair pin and runs away, naked. A group of miscreants find her by the river, but they are killed by Gen before they can do anything. Aren faints and wakes up in the presence of the man she thinks saved her.
The man points out that she cannot return home and convinces her to become an assassin, killing men with her hair pin while they have sex. She doesn’t like the work at first, but gets used to it. Eventually the man gives her an assignment to kill the bodyguard of their next target. The bodyguard is Gen. Since Gen will only sleep with women who are already dying, the man sends out the rumor that Aren is sick with an incurable disease. The chapter ends right when Gen goes to met her.
Unfortunately, that’s all there is. The last scanlation came out in 2007, so hopefully someone will pick with up and finish it.

Oh yeah, I love his works too. They are kinda… different? I read Bestia and Lord before and now thanks to this post, I'm gonna read Heat. That dick is pretty inviting. LOL
The art kinda reminds me of The Ravages of Time and Goseki Kojima's stuff, like Lone Wolf and Cub. I love seeing realistically rendered people (especially women!) for once. Too bad the action scenes aren't that fluid and the protagonists all look the same.
Wait, that's not really a bad thing. Half the reason I even got past the first chapter in Heat is because I thought Karasawa looked rather tasty. It suits me to see his looks replicated in the Edo period and the Three Kingdoms era. : D
Also, pixel peens are all kinds of awesome. ♥
Your avatar is amazing.
Good to know that someone finds it as arousing as I do.
It disturbs me nearly as much as that shadow…
This is the same artist that drew crying freeman right? I read some of his works in the early 90s but all 3 titles mention here I have never read it. LOL Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, its the same artist. I thought I put that in the opening, but I must have accidentally deleted it.
I managed to find a download of all 16 volumes of the "Heat" raw. Even without being able to read it, the manga looks like it gets pretty intense. People switching sides, Chinese triads, evil American businessmen and Karasawa's mysterious imprisoned sweetheart. It'll take forever to scanlate all that, but I'm looking forward to it.
