Ookami-san 9
I’m not sure if the way Ringo’s past was elaborated on this episode changes my opinion, or impression, of her in any way. That segment of the episode was a lot shorter than I expected, which is all good since the show doesn’t exactly excel in the melodrama department. (Which just as fine! It’s much better than excessive drama). The rest of the episode quickly turned into some more standard antics from the crew, and you can emphasize ‘standard’. Everyone’s personality quirk was shown in a brief montage; Tarou being his womanizing self, Otohime getting jealous, Majolica being crazy, and most notably, Ryouko punching Ryoushi within an inch of his life as usual.
I keep forgetting about the short clips that play after the end credits. They play like a condensed version of the light comedy fare that is Ookami-san, although none march the witty/quirkiness of that first episode. This one was a good sign for that Ryouko/Ryoushi pairing, since it’s getting more obvious that Ryouko has feelings for him, although it’s admitting it that’s going to take a while. The omake-like atmosphere of the clips let things venture out of any realistic barriers, because the wolf probably wouldn’t be caught dead dressed up in a dress like that.
Is the fairy tale gimmick still fun? That’s up to the viewer, although I don’t think it’s forced that badly yet. There’s only so many you could work into the high school setting, but the way that there are double meanings behind some fairy tale allusions is pretty cool, such as how Ringo is both Little Red Riding Hood and the ‘poison apple’ of this episode’s plot, but instead of being cleverly used, it seems more like it’s just inserted into the plot. Shirayuki represented Snow White (which is what her name literally means! I only know this from reading Bleach…) and her refined, self-sacrificing (read: perfect) personality was more Cinderella-like to me. Not that any of the leads in those fairy tales have much of a personality to begin with, but eh. The friendship between her and Ringo was sweet and the way Ringo gave up a wish for her was a lovely happy ending.
Seems like we’re returning to the plot next time. Makes me wonder what they’re planning for the finale; I can imagine it going all out with Ryoushi’s manly mode back along with those kitty punching gloves if we’re lucky–instead of a relatively laid back epilogue that some high school comedies go for.

I agree, the friendship (or sisterhood?) between Ringo and Shirayuki was quite sweet!
I seriously hope that Ryoushi is the one who goes manly and protects Ryouko. I mean, the show's title may be Okami-san, but it'd be nice to see Ryoushi man up and save the day. Of course, it does seem like its a bit too soon for that to happen.
Still, we can be hopeful right? I hope we don't get the classic "Their lives will go on" ending that most high school series seem to have nowadays! XD
Yes, it was! It was really sweet how they both made sacrifices for each other. And we've seen Ryoushi toughen up a bit in a few scenes, but I'm sure he'll surprise us all with his manliness now that we're returning to plot-related matters. (I hope).
I'll remain hopeful that the ending doesn't disappoint, although the show has been very typical as far as high school comedies go, so far… But even if it is ends up being pretty normal, hopefully they'll pull it off well. =D
I finally caught up with Ookami and though I liked what's happening in general; it's just another one of those light hearted comedies. I just hope they close this well, with only 3 more episodes to go.
Yeah, it's nothing that spectacular, but it's a nice light hearted watch. They've seemed to have developed some sort of episodic pattern, but the plot better get moving now that there's only so many episodes left!
I like Ookami-san when it's not using the "Each character is a one trick pony when it comes to gags" sort of thing. You can predict exactly what each character is going to do by now, and it's not funny anymore =/ Sometimes I question why I'm watching it..and that's probably a bad thing <_<
lol, yeah the names of all the characters are blatantly related to whatever fairy tale they're from. Who names their kid red apple? <_<
Shirayuki was so adorable, awww, she's like a saint! XD I liked Ringo's backstory too. At least it wasn't horribly cliche. :3
Exactly. Those gags are getting waay too repetitive and overused, and it makes all of their actions rather predictable. And when you know exactly how they're going to act, it's tempting to skip through some of it. I question why I'm watching certain shows pretty often, too… though I guess I'll have to accept this for all its flaws. xD
Those names can be a little too convenient. I'm willing to just go with it for the sake of the story, ahaha. And I want to see more of the side characters in future episodes! And I agree, the backstory this ep wasn't nearly as contrived as it could've been.
