Seikimatsu Occult Academy 10

Talk about a tearjerker! First a cute little girl dies when all she wanted was to see Santa, then another cute but not-so-little girl’s house is torn down, then the little girl and her dad have a final reunion – the worst of all of this is, Santa Claus doesn’t exist! Little children everywhere watching this show must be devastated… But, aside from Santa’s lack of existance, this whole event ended on a very feel-good note.

VP vs. Mikaze showdown! Who will win?!

Even though the last two episodes had nothing to do with the Nostradamus Key (anything they do never does anyway), Fumiaki & Maya’s partnership is changing for the better. Whether the change is still platonic or growing to be romantic is unclear, but at least he set his priorities straight – Maya, Mizake, teaching, some other things, and probably the Vice Principal being the last priority if actually makes the list, as sad as it is to say. It wasn’t very sad to say at all, but the VP always makes the episodes funnier, so let’s all wish her luck and good health, seeing as her heart is probably broken over Fumiaki & Maya’s hand-to-hand action, heh heh heh

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man... (♪ dodododododo ♪)

Maya’s childhood Christmas wish was very clever of the writers of the show to add in. Even though her crying looks a little weird, it was heartbreaking to find out the reason Maya’s father ignored her all this time to focus on the school was simply because of her own wish of a school for the occult. All those daddy issues about not focusing on her or her family was her own fault, which is a much more interesting than a slap to the face and a little lack of attention.

Smile put a smile on his star, hehe ♥

The tears Maya shed and the new-found determination at the very end of the episode took away a lot of focus from Akari’s heartfelt ending – which wasn’t too important to the overall plot anyway -, but as Ami put it, Maya’s a nice girl, as well as the rest of their gang. We don’t know very much about JK or Smile, so a back story on them would be nice, and it feels as though Naruse could be doing a lot more than just being there during battles. But regardless, the Christmas party was a cute demonstration of the characters as good kids with big hearts, who cry while fixing cars. (Smile is pretty cute in this episode!) It was surprising JK wasn’t Santa Claus, he’s so jolly and, well, joyfully chubby…

c':

While this wasn’t the best Christmas-themed episode ever – the Invader Zim Christmas episode takes the cake - the last two episodes were definitely cute, although the lack of action must have been aggravating to some of you who don’t eat up this sort of feel-good cuteness. But the next episode looks as though there will be no more cutesy-happy stuff, so we’ll probably be treated to some butt-kicking action again!

Really great review. And ya, I really think #6 is starting to get that emotional attachment to Maya. When he said "Will I finally get my first girlfriend" he pictured Maya, so you know his feelings definitely reach her in that sort. Overall, I'm really happy how they tied up the side-story and worked on the relationship for the group as a whole, and Maya's partnership as well.

Aaw yeah, I was squeeling when that happened hehe X) Everything's so happy-happy, I can't help but think it's just a set-up for the worst…

  • This episode was the best till now. Everything just fell into place and it didn't even feel rushed. There's definitely chemistry between Maya and Fumiaki; now apparent more than ever because of his realization. Though that preview really gave me a scare… Three more episodes to go and they pull a death-scene on us… *shakesfists*

For real, I'm so nervous for next episode! There's no way she'd die permanently but that pile of blood is so :c
