OtakuConnect’s Winter ’11 Interactive Chart
If you guys may not have noticed, not long ago a new anime/manga social networking site was released. After months of tweaking and beta-testing, it was finally released in the wild around November. Created by friend of the blog Victor and designed by Sekijitu’s very own 2Shea, there is now a social hub for animites around the world to share their newest findings and new loves: OtakuConnect
As an addition to the site, the team also aimed to create an interactive season preview chart (found below), where info for all the new anime and OVA releases can be found. Created for the benefit of us bloggers everywhere, it comes in two sizes: the large full size variety that can be viewed on the site, and the smaller 540px version. The winter chart was just released moments ago so here I am posting it on the site to showcase to you. Since the framework for the previews is now finalised, it should be really easy for future charts to be made. In fact, the spring one is already in the works, with a pending release a few weeks away when more info is available.
I gotta say, it does look great. It’s a great compliment to the site itself, a site that I have been a part of for half a month now, along with a few other Sekijitsu writers and other anime lovers. Victor and 2Shea have done an amazing job to make their dreams come to fruition. Seriously, to create all this from scratch is mind boggling and I know how much effort they have put in around the clock to make it all a reality. So be sure to check it out if you haven’t already and make sure to tell your mates. It’s gonna be a blast :D

OMG! I just checked you guys out and Vivi's a Drop Bear! LOLS xDD
Lol yea, that's where I first heard about them
Drop bears > sheep
You do realize that drop bears were recruited by sheep to be their minions, unleashed on unsuspecting aussie tourists in New Zealand's goal of taking over Australia.
I have registered but it will take a while for me to learn all the features and get familiar with it. I think it's a good effort from you guys. Kudos.
Yea, saw you on there already. Cheers for registering :D
It's still young so there's not that many people but hopefully it will all change in time
Woot more sites to join :P
joined up! just gotta add shows to my list…
Oh sweet, new people. Ill be sure to add you on my friends list :)
Been a member for a few now hehe. I like the import list feature. As well, that interactive anime chart is awesome.
Yea, the interactive chart is gonna be revolutionary. The spring one will be incorporating video for the trailers as well.
Its gonna be a one stop shop for everything XD
Great work guys. Its good to see more awesome sites dedicated to animes. Otakuconnect feels more like Myanimelist in many ways though. The only way for OC to stand out is better website design (which MAL lack at). Just a suggestion, keep us updated.
Yeah, there's been lots of people looking for a MAL alternative/clone since it's being so neglected lately. I was tempted to move to animeplanet but I really dislike their layout… :P
You don't like AP?? nooooooooo! T_T I been using it and it's pretty good :3
We try to push out an update every week (minor and major) to try to make the user experience better. The next set of updates we have planned are site enhancements which should help with navigating the site better. We're always up for suggestions and we really just want to have a site where users feel we are giving them the best quality in terms of usability. I can't really speak for MAL, but this has really been our focus since day one, and we love to hear criticism! :-)
Criticism #1: The site is really bland looking, plz add some color other than blue/white x)
like what ruby said make the OC look more like Sekijitsu.
I think once all the features and kinks are worked out, the staff can focus on slowly evolving the design.
Right now, the most important thing is to make sure that it is fast and usable, as well as user-friendly.
I need to go and revive my account there. Victor even emailed for a reminder. Will do today, hopefully!
looks neat~. Might drop by and create an account one of these days.
Also, same reason as Mint, I can't make myself like AP's layout so I'm stuck to MAL.
Nice chart. Btw, I just checked out OtakuConnect and the layout looks similar to MAL, so I'll keep it in mind (didn't really like AP).
