Naruto ch524

To be honest, nothing particularly memorable happened in the first half of this chapter. While I was right in predicting that we were gonna get some sort of flashback scene to really make this touching reunion “touching”, it wasn’t really pulled off in a way that I was satisfied with. But let’s be fair, I’d rather get a flashback that didn’t rehash the same death scene over and over again, so I suppose Kakashi having a little moment down memory lane with Naruto was fine enough. It just wasn’t done in a way to help keep the pacing at a steady pace, especially given that it was done between cuts of Kakashi’s brush with death.

Zabuza did end up chopping Haku in half, and there really was no remorse in the now fully controlled zombie. There was no hesitation this time around, which led to Kakashi being really close to getting hammered as well. I get that Kishi was trying to pull our heartstrings a little, what with Kakashi having said that he was happy Zabuza and Haku were the first opponents that Naruto faced, but yea, the execution just wasn’t there.

That’s about it for the negativity. After all the touchy touchy, this chapter was pretty decent. There were a lot of great panels with some amazing action shots. Kakashi alone had enough badass panels that it was kinda hard to pick out which pictures to leave out for this post. It was really sweet to see the nice action poses and freeze frames and that alone was enough to redeem the failed “heartfelt” moments.

The good thing to come out of this Haku/Zabuza battle is that the heroes have now figured out a way to fully seal the zombies for good. Now that it is proven that they can successfully seal them without having Kabuto pulling some other crap out of his ass, they can literally go full on without worrying about any lingering aftereffects.

Another positive to come out of this is Kakashi’s rageface, since he is now clearly amped as hell to get heads rolling. Seeing him holding up Zabuza’s cleaver was enough to make the
fangirl
in me squeal, since it seems like we will be seeing a side to Kakashi that we haven’t seen in quite some time. An enraged Kakashi, one that hasn’t been seen since Obito’s death, will mean that he will be showcasing the thousands of jutsus that have given him the nickname “Copy Ninja” Kakashi.

Sadly though, we won’t be seeing Kakashi go apeshit on the rest of the mist-nins in the next chapter, since the focus has now shifted to General Gaara and his merry man. The opponent this time is a newly introduced former Tsuchikage, Muu. The guy is a walking mummy and while he kinda looks like Zabuza, his design is pretty badass since he looks like a real freaky guy. With his invisibility technique (or evaporation or whatever), it seems like he will have some sweet ass techniques of his own. A Kage-level battle is definitely in the works, and I look forward to seeing the now bijuu-less Gaara do battle against a formidable opponent.

The next few chapters are gonna be sweeettttt~

  • Vivi says:

    HEY

    DIDN'T THIS GUY DIE

If they're going to bring Zabuza & Haku back, I want some more ZabuzaxHaku moments!

Anyway, Kakashi in ragemode sounds too insane. It's surprising the whole country hasn't been blown up yet by everyone's over 9000 powerlevels.

  • Omigoodness I can't wait to see Kakashi whip out his thousand copied ninja techniques and lose it on all the enemies who stand in his way. I've always believed he's one of the greatest ninja and one of the greatest characters and to get to see him go all out means I can die happy.

And I like Gaara so I guess it's okay if we focus on him and his troops for a little bit.

    • Yea, I've always wanted to see technique other than the raikiri and the sharingan. Its good to know that Kishi hasnt forgotten about his legend.

And yea, havent seen a proper Gaara fight since the Deidara one, which was like 4-5 years ago D:

  • The Kakashi and Zabusa fight ended pretty anti-climatically. I was kind of disappointed. I'm really excited about the next one though, especially since we haven't seen much from that village other than Deidara.

    • It seemed like a rehash of the previous fight right?

It's too similar for my tastes and it wasn't really executed as well as I would have liked.
