Infinite Stratos 03

Already on the 3rd episode, and it’s been good so far, here’s hoping it can continue with that, and deliver more quality episodes. This episode seems to be showing off more of the ISes which I’m glad they’re finally doing. Will they ever offer a REAL explanation on why men CAN’T pilot the IS? Will Ichika fall off a cliff? Will a Nuke hit? Who knows.

“The Transfer Student is the Second Childhood Friend”

Shhh......Shhh....stay still it'll be over soon.

Plot: “Cecilia takes a liking with Ichika and gives the position of class representative to him instead much to Houki’s chagrin. The next day, Ichika meets Huang Lingyin, the new transfer student from China who  happens to be his childhood friend and also the class representative of her class. After Ichika and Huang get reacquainted with each other, Cecilia and Houki get jealous and coach Ichika in IS practice.”

ATTENTION!

At only 50 seconds or so in, we get some good action. That action being, the Transformation Sequence for the IS. I had originally thought that if they were more power armor like, they would have just been stored in hangers and the pilots would just hop in. Although that would be a weird way of doing it, I do enjoy the way it gives off a Kamen Riderish feeling. All they need to do now is start shouting “HENSHIN!” and I’ll be convinced one of them is a rider. Anyways, since the last fight Cecila has taken a liking to Ichika, and has joined his harem (BEAT THAT SUGISAKI!) enough so that she was generally worried about him when he fell to the ground, while he got scolded by his sister.

And maybe attempt to grope you.

1 Trip to the hospital later. We see…A NEW GIRL! Who is she? Why has she come here? And will she make me a sandwich? We go back to the school and see Ichika is the class rep because Cecila stepped down (so then why did she bother to run?). Now then after the party we see more on how Ichika and Houki live. When she changes he faces to the other direction and she pulls out a separator so he can’t peak (why not use the bathroom? Is there no door to it or something?) As it turns out Huang is China’s IS Pilot, and class 2′s representative who came to declare war on class 1, because they’re not the only ones with Custom ISes (even she has one.) She’s also, brace for it, Ichika’s Childhood friend who happens to be an IS pilot (what a twist!)

We go onto learn how Ichika became the worlds ONLY male IS pilot, the reason being he touched it so apparently it responded to him (how in the fuck is it ONLY Women who are able to pilot this? I’m sure it says it somewhere in the novel, but as nobody has done any fan translations, I would not know. They better explain it soon.) As it turns out Huang is his second childhood friend while Houki is the first. Apparently because when he was in grade school he would go over to her house for dinner, and such, because of that Houki and Cecila rage….over the past. We finally get a glimpse at Houki’s IS and I have to say I’m impressed, the design is pretty nifty, and it has claws for fingers. They both decide to “train” him, by training I mean just attempt to kill him with an IS because of his other childhood friend.

Once he gets back to the locker room (wait wouldn’t he be considered a perv because there’s only a girls locker room?) he and  Huang go on to talk about their past, and how she said if she became a good cook that he would date her (strange promises these children make). She also reveals she’s basically been waiting for him the whole time (stalker much?). Later on she shows up in Houki’s room which leads to Houki almost attacking her with a kendo stick. She goes onto explain it some more which ends the episode.

Final Thoughts: I enjoyed this episode, I mean we now know who China’s IS Pilot is, and her feelings for Ichika. We saw a lot more IS Combat, and a little back-story on how Ichika managed to become an IS pilot. I like the design for Houki’s IS since it seems to fit her personality well. I just wished they would FINALLY tell us WHY ONLY WOMEN CAN PILOT THE IS, that would be very helpful.

Rating: Overall it was a good episode, we saw more IS Combat, and relationships forming and while I did think they drew out the Huang part a little, I thought it was still damn fine. I give have to give it 9 Raging Fan girls out 9.

  But overall, I liked it. The fight scene was awesome, and I LOLed when Ichika crashed right into the ground, it was really dumb XD
