Infinite Stratos 05
What time is it? Adventure Time! time for another IS episode, that’s what time it is. This week we see another new pilot added to the harem (BEAT THAT SUGISAKI!). As a side note, a lot of people are thinking the new pilot is in fact male, but this is not true, “he” was accidentally mistaken for a male, and I’ll go into more detail after the break.
IT'S A TRAP!....or maybe just a really feminine guy...
We start off this fine episode with Ichika’s old classmate and him talking about the school (honestly it was this or a harem ending.) The reason for the visit? Off Campus Vacation, his friend’s sister is well….crushing on him to say the least. She quickly fixes her clothes after realizing he was there. Later on it turns out they own a Restaurant (I’m beginning to think that’s all Japanese homes), and she looks more…like a woman I guess. It’s sad Ichika is surrounded by beautiful ladies and he doesn’t realize it. A little while later Houki comes back asking Ichika one thing; if she wins the student tournament next month, will he go out with her. About damn time, I guess, it’s that or Cecilia comes along as a foot stool. I guess the reason is more rooms became available, which leads to our new character “Charles”, the other “Male” IS Pilot.
And here I thought she was the sane one..
Because of Houki’s question, the rumor is, win the tournament next month, and date “Orimura Kun.” The 3 girls who were eavesdropping apparently can’t get good info. Although “Charles” is introduced as a Guy, you can hear that “his” voice sounds very feminine for a “guy”. “He’s” from France, although what part is what I wonder, as I myself am Half French, and actually, I’m curious. Although I wonder if “he” surrenders easily (if you don’t get the joke look at World Wars 1 & 2) Right away “he” notices Ichika, and becomes good friends with him….and his fan-girls. The Ichika fan-club now has 2 targets Ichika AND Charles. You can tell “he’s” a she from the back of “his” hair, it’s in Ponytailish style with a knot or something over it.
I'm sure he didn't imagine a harem.
Ichika being smart for once in his life, realizes they need to get to practice so changes quickly. As “Charles” looks away while Ichika changes, he mentions how his suit tangles up after he gets nude to put it on. “Charles’ ” IS outfit is pretty nice, granted it’s made for a feminine body, but still pretty nifty, and looks better than what Ichika wears. I realized “he” fits the male part perfectly as “he’s” more or less flat chested, or it could be just smaller than the other girls. Cecilia and Rin are selected for a practice match, they have no real enthusiasm until Chifuyu mentions showing off for Ichika. But before that their teacher comes flying down in her IS, and surprisingly doesn’t kill Ichika. Although because these are probably heavy I don’t see how he’s not dead. But he did manage to get breast action, with hand and face, “accidentally”, don’t you love the accidental breast groping scenes? I sure do.
Not everyday a teacher falls from the sky.
The teacher turns out to be something in mecha anime that’s usually bad-ass, a sniper. As it turns out she was a former candidate but never got further, never the less, she has sharp skills still. The fight is a handicap match, although not much of a handicap considering the opponent. This fight is about teamwork and how otherwise you’re gonna lose because you and your partner can’t work together. Turns out the IS is a 3rd generation mass produced model, whose role can be configured by switching equipment quickly. Cecilia and Rin are made quick work out of and didn’t even last 10 seconds. Ichika becomes the teacher, for these sad and lonely girls, which turns funny quickly. Next up is Houki for training (wait I thought she had experience) as she can’t reach the cockpit Ichika has to carry her in, with his IS (I shit you not). Although next to “Charles” I can see Ichika winding up with Houki, more then Cecilia, Rin or the German girl (we’ll talk about that next time though.)
Sandwiches? That's all you could come up with? Seriously?
After that….interesting bit, Ichika’s Bitches, I mean his gang of lovable friends, who just so happen to be girls who want to do dirty things to him have lunch together. Rin seems to be a great cook, although it’s clear Cecilia is trying to 1 up Rin, but failing. Apparently Cecilia IS a bad cook as Ichika almost dies (again.) Houki has the best cooking it seems, though I feel she’s been downgraded from a character with purpose, to a harem brigade member. Later on “Charles” and Ichika hang out in their room and just drink tea, and “Charles” revealing that “he” too has a personal IS, which I cannot wait to see. In the end we see our final brigade member, Laura Bodewig all the way from Germany, joining the class. She tells Ichika she can’t accept him as Chifuyu’s brother, thus ending our episode.
Oh my ANOTHER transfer student...in only 2 day...
Final Thoughts: I liked the episode, we got 2 new characters, although I think it should have been paced some more, but that’s just me. On the note of Houki falling in love with Ichika, I figured it would happen, now I want to see if she’ll become like Cecilia or Rin, basically just there to please Ichika. I like “Charles”, “he” seems to have a good personality, and seems like “he’s” a powerful IS pilot, although if this is true or not remains to be seen. I loved seeing Rin and Cecilia get blasted down in 1 shot by Yamada, who turned out to be a powerful pilot, even years after retiring from being an actual IS pilot. Her IS seems like something you should fear and despite being a mass produced version, it can switch weapons out quickly.
As a side note in case you were confused the reason there are quotes by “Charles’ ” name is because “he” is really a she, but we’ll get into that next time.
Rating: I give it 9 surrendering french men out of 10. Le Gasp!

I wonder how the hell can you fuck up making a sandwich. No really. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE.
Cecilia is an idiot. That's gotta be it. She's an upper class twit and her foolishness is on par with Ichika's blindness to his harem.
Like I said before, she was reduced from a viable opponent to brigade member, if Ichika said Jump she'd jump, if he wanted her as footstool she would.
Plus she probably added something to the sandwich, I don't know though.

I have to agree about that sandwich, i just can't see how its possible.
I have previously accidentally read too much about the characters and am a little spoiled about who Charles is and what laura's problem is.
Still it is enjoyable enough.

i can clearly see houki as the leading girl i nthis haremness!!! and by looking at the rhythm of the story .. its pretty obvious houki will end up with ichika ^.^

Alright, I hearby announce that Charles is not a guy but a girl, there's just so many things about this BOY that makes you think his a girl… I mean…the voice is a girls voice! D:

Yeah, Charles is really Charlotte, not going into details as that would spoil it.
How no one picked up on the fact that Charles is a trap is beyond me.
Personally I would try out the MGS2 crotch grab strategy and hope to dear god that "he" is not a he.

On the more related note, you'd think that Houki would actually be good with IS since her sister did actually invent them. Maybe she pretended that she didn't know how to operate them so that Ichika would HAVE to help her into the cockpit.
The more likely theory, of course, is that she has a bad relation with her sister, hence explaining the unidentified IS drone.

Actually Houki's sister, didn't create the IS Ichika's sister did, and yeah she was pretending, so she could get closer to Ichika.
