The End?

Ahhh, it’s so sad but we are finally here at the end of the week. But is it really ever the end? Nah. This is definitely not the last of Eyeshield 21 that you will see on this blog, and chances are if you haven’t started it by now, I’ll be pestering you to the ends of the Earth until you do. I’m persistent like that, just ask anyone. All in all though, it’s been a very successful week as far as I’m concerned. I managed to open some people’s eyes to the series and the blog has had a very surprising spike in traffic the past 7 days. It’s great to know that people are checking out these post, since we put a lot of effort into preparing the content to make all this possible (12 posts in 7 days aint bad. 12=21 Right? Right?).

I’d like to give a huge thanks to Overcooled from Metanorn, and Fuu, the mysterious-third-Sekijitsu-writer-who-never-was. They both have helped make this week a success, and we’ve had epic chats during our brainstorm sessions to make sure that we covered all the bases. It’s so nice to able to see your recommendations loved and adored by people, and these two have been great Eyeshieldism converts. And for that, they have my gratitude.

As a lil bonus, I’d like to show two videos of actual NFL games that may interest you. These two are very recent games from the last season and I thought that they might be of interest to people who are starting to understand American Football a little more. The first is a rumbling, tumbling, epic run by #24 Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks. This was during the wildcard round of the playoffs, and if you were wondering what Teikoku’s Yamato Takeru would look like on one of his devastating runs in the manga, then this is probably it.

Absolutely incredible. A 67 yard touchdown run, he went into BEAST mode and pretty much obliterated everyone in his path. It’s one of the best runs you will ever see in the playoffs and this is what I imagine it’s like for Yamato to bulldoze his way through a defense.

For the second video, my very own team, the Philadelphia Eagles (who’s uniform designs served as the inspiration for the Deimon Devilbats) show you how to win a game from a huge deficit. I’ve always thought that the Devilbat comebacks were a little too good to be true, but once you see this, you will know that it is very plausible indeed. This is from the last season as well, so you damn well know that this is very recent. And it was also against their toughest rivals, the New York Giants at their own stadium the New Meadowlands Stadium (the very same stadium used in the finals of the World Youth Cup in Eyeshield 21).

This game was dubbed as the “Miracle at the New Meadowlands” because of the crazy comeback feat and it marks the 3rd time the Eagles came back against the Giants from such a huge deficit. Eagles were down 31-10 with only 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter and they still manage to win it, with the last play of the game (a kick return) sealing the victory. That is even crazier than the Devilbats comeback against Teikoku. Yes, it is possible, and you can imagine how crazy I went as I saw this live on tv. This game made me think of the Devilbats and it really showed that anything is possible in American Football. That last play of the game still gives me goosebumps to this day. Wow. So if anyone is actually interested in the NFL now, you can start rooting for the Philly Eagles like me cos they are the closest thing to the Devilbats in the current NFL. Trust me :)

And I guess that is it. I’ve given a nice little present to y’all with those videos and I thought it was a good way to end the week, showing the parallels of the manga with the actual game in real life. Hopefully you enjoyed this week. I know that I definitely did and thanks so much for visiting and taking part in the festivities. It went way better than I initially anticipated and maybe there will be more of these in the future? But yea, business will resume as usual very soon and we will hopefully be emailing the applicants of the hiring with the results very soon.

Thanks so much for dropping by and I’ll be seeing y’all again very soon :) Keep the Eyeshield love strong!

  • It's been an enjoyable read looking in detail at different aspects, it did make me order the first volume (still waiting for it to be delivered). A couple interesting characters so i'll see if i'll end up getting the rest.

It is nice to see a blog with some balls to actually promote one series so much (anyone would think they're paying you, shishishi.)
