Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko 09

Hello minna san! Welcome back to another episode of Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. This week’s episode is titled “A Local Alien Encounter”! Let us begin shall we?

This is what guys look like when they look at porn! Well... some do.

Makoto seems to have quite a fetish for Ryuuko’s grump expressions. I mean, just look at face! On the other hand, it felt pretty nice to see some great art from Denpa Onna. It’s those meaningless sceneries and close up shots done well by Shaft that has this impact on you as you watch it don’t you think? Either way, I quite enjoyed this episode especially being able to witness the space girl finally getting a bit of air time near the end!

The self-proclaimed esper from the OP is finally getting some air time!

Yes you heard me! They finally introduced the space girl into the show and currently we only know that she (unless it’s a guy who looks like a girl) claims to be an esper. Although I could be overthinking things but it does seem like this space girl sounded quite similar to Erio or am I just bad at telling high pitched voices apart. Hopefully we’ll be able to confirm what her name is and dig deeper into whom she really is in the next episode.

"Shounen! You playing or what?"

Though Maekawa inviting Makoto to play some baseball brings back memories from Moshidora which I adored that anime so much. If you haven’t seen Moshidora, I suggest you go and do so but it starts to get really good from episode 6 to 10. As some would’ve anticipated, the all so jealous Ryuuko intervenes as she tries to steal Makoto away from baseball to watch her play basketball. In the end, she fails to change Makoto’s mind. Makoto isn’t to be blamed for this matter but rather another guy named Nakajiwa. It seems Nakajiwa and Ryuuko know each other. It would be great if we could learn more about their relationship in the upcoming episodes.

Head tilt cuteness! <3

A scene I adored in this episode was during the night watch using the telescope. A little mingle between Makoto and Erio led me to thinking that this series wasn’t focusing on aliens in general, nor was it throwing out the idea of story and plot like Arakawa Under the Bridge but the development of Erio from being socially isolated and now, trying her best to fit back into society. On another note, Erio states that she saw something shining next to the moon. Maybe it could be a UFO or just a distant star. What do you guys think?

I find her costumes quite unique but at the same time... awkward.

The self-proclaimed esper triggered many questions to answer after telling Erio that she looks like a ‘creature’ living on something or somewhere (most likely out of space). The esper also said Erio has something to do with a certain something. What could this certain something be and why does Erio remind this esper of a certain creature? Is Erio actually a real alien? There are other questions that I’m sure some of you would have other than these but either way, I’d like to know more about this in the upcoming episodes. As for Makoto’s adolescent points, it has gone up to +6.

=3="

Rating: I’d give this episode 7 out of 10. It did intrigue me at the end but it was quite dull at the start and around the middle. Though the art in this episode was great, I’m quite worried as to how things will end considering there are only 3 more episodes to go.

Till next time minna-san!

Ja ne minna-san!
