Ao no Exorcist 09

“WVAT A TWIST”! or at least that’s what I was thinking at the start of the show, it was no surprise that the ‘training camp’ was the test especially after Yukio had to leave for three hours but the Nehuas story line had me going all episode. I would have found it hard to believe he was just an invigilator in the exam and even more so that he was summoning such powerful demons without Mephisto noticing. Yet neither was quite the case, instead he was working for Mephisto. Which in itself isn’t that big of a shock but the show is starting to allude to the bigger picture (FINALLY).

I did really enjoy the character development for Yukio and Rin. I am definitely getting the FMA vibes with their characters and it was really interesting to see that Yukio thinks that Rin is just all round better than he is, even though Yukio has a far bigger trophy cupboard for all of his achievements. Despite all this recent plot development I do think the development could be a bit faster. Izumi’s development shouldn’t of needed two episodes to develop her as a cliche. Which further begs to ask why she got this screen time when all Yukio needed was a short 2-3 minute flashback to establish his past with Shiemi.

Next weeks episode is looking equally epic, maybe Rin will get a familiar and he will be able to tame the cat demon and maybe Izumi will find out he is the son of Satan, but that I am sure will happen eventually.

  As much as I would love another show like FMA, I feel that it won't meet the expectations we would put on it. AnE is a solid show so far, though it suffers from a lot of the shonen series' trappings. But it's all good, I particularly like the seiyuu for Rin, except when he gets all high and screechy. :/

  The epic music from the fight scene was pure win, I love scenes like those and it gets me interested. That said, Mephisto definitely is a rotten cookie.

  Dun dun dun! Teachers after Rin nooooooooo!!

  So far seems were going to have a few more people jumping into attack Rin, Hopefully its not X bad guy shows up >Rin defeats them > repeat for the remaining episodes. However if that does happen I don't think I would stop watching it xD

  I wonder how many episodes AnE is slated for, since the manga is not that far ahead. I won't want the story to plug in too many filler episodes. Even though I actually liked the first filler, too many of those things will drag the story down.

  Still, that was a nice twist in the episode. I didn't even remember this bit from the manga at all, can't wait to see what other surprises lie around the corner.

  Definitely loved the twist. Was not what I was expecting, but still very good. I'm glad they finally stopped dragging out the boring side-character plot development and got into some real action. Also, Mephisto being behind the attack on Rin doesn't surprise me, but I do hope he doesn't turn out to be a real bad guy as I like him a lot.

  Interested to see where they go next and I do agree with what Foshizzel said. I hope they keep the bad guys around longer than two or three episodes.
