Fall 2011 Anime Preview

Introduction

If I recall correctly, someone once told me that the spring and fall seasons are usually where the big guns of anime are released. Judging by the list, there are a few that fit that bill. The noitaminAs are both pretty intriguing, especially Guilty Crown and I’m really looking forward to Persona 4. There is definitely content to play with here.

Truth be told, it’ll be quite sad to say goodbye to the summer anime, since some have definitely taken me by surprise. Anime that I didn’t even consider watching were surprisingly fun to follow while the big names met expectations. Hopefully fall will follow suit, and based on the list, a couple shows should at least entertain. If not, I’ll have to drop this enthusiastic/optimistic outlook every preview and become a cynical and pessimistic prick that hates life. Then again, there are still some summer shows to keep me company if that ever happens (Kyuuuu).

☆☆☆

Fall has come at last! I should be dreading the upcoming school year, but to be honest, I’ve been looking forward to this season since the beginning of last season! Why? MIRAI NIKKI AND LAST EXILE! Then, when Ika Musume, Hunter x Hunter, Guilty Crown, and Working!! were announced, my heart nearly skipped a beat. Why has everyone been being so negative about this season? It looks to me like it’s going to be pretty great. There’s also some awesome looking noitaminA stuff and Persona 4 to look forward to, so I can’t wait for the Fall season to start!

☆☆☆

Summer zipped by sadly fast, huh? I’m already back in Montreal for school, and it’s drippy and dreary and extremely hot. But autumn brings, like all new seasons, new anime, so there’s something to look forward to! I’ll be honest, summer hasn’t been the best season ever (although it does have Mawaru PenguinDrum, plus conclusions to Tiger & Bunny and Steins;Gate), so I’m not too sad to move onto something new. Fall is an equinox season, so it’s a bigger season for anime. There’s a lot to look forward to in this batch of shows!

☆☆☆

Why hello once again minna-san! Glad you could join us for another season preview: the fall season, to be exact! Looking into the list, I’m pretty hyped up about most of these shows coming out and now with my internet usage upgraded, I don’t have to drop a show for usage problems anymore! YES! *ahem* Enough of that, why don’t you guys scroll down and take a look at our individual thoughts of each upcoming series in the fall season.

☆☆☆

You can stop watching anime but ANIME WILL NEVER STOP! :I There is just so much you can keep up with, and this season proves that unfortunately, so far, some titles just don’t seem to make the cut. That’s just based on their summaries and/or trailers, but overall I’m fairly disinterested in this season, with an exception of a few. Usually most seasons I’m at least mildly interested enough to check out each show’s first episode, but I think I’ll have to pass most of these.

Bakuman2//Tofu’sThoughts

First of all, this message is to Hoshi: “IT’S FINALLY HERE HOSHI!! OUR BAKUMAN SERIES IS BACK ONCE AGAIN TO AWARD US WITH MORE ENTHUSIAM INJECTIONS!!” *ahem* As you can tell, I really enjoyed the first season of Bakuman, and I’m definitely looking forward to the next! Sure, it was quite slow, but I liked how educational and entertaining it was to watch and learn about the wonderful world of being a mangaka. Also, Mashiro and Takagi’s successes and failures make for an emotional, as well as educational, ride. I have heard the manga is much faster and more entertaining than the anime series, so if you can’t be bothered watching, go read it.

Other than the excitement that the duos bring to the series, I’m really looking forward to seeing more development between Mashiro and Miho. The romantic relationship they have is something I love watching because it shows that the most important thing is that their love will never die, no matter what happens between them. In other words, Mashiro’s romance with Miho drives them to try and achieve their dream goals to the best of their ability. Watching them progress towards that dream makes Bakuman a great, enthusiastic drive.

Ben-To//Elyon’sThoughts

The premise here is pretty wacky, and it has the potential to be a really creative comedy if done right. The character designs, however, make me think it will probably just end up being a crappy fanservicefest….

This could really go either way: on one hand, the guy doing the series composition also wrote Tantei Opera Milky Holmes, one of the most refreshing and well-written comedies of 2010, but on the other….he also worked on Kampfer and Princess Resurrection, which doesn’t exactly instill confidence. It’s all going to depend, really, on whether they focus on making the most of its unique premise or if they just focus on the fanservice. I’m betting on the latter, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to rule it out completely yet.

BokuwaTomodachigaSukunai//Tofu’sThoughts

I think my heart just skipped a beat or two when I realized this manga’s got an anime adaption! I might have squealed a bit, but hell I don’t care if I let my feminine side out because it’s Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai!! You might be thinking “what’s so good about this?” Well, even as a follower of the manga, it’s hard for me to describe why it’s so enjoyable and hooks me in every time I turn the page (or when I click the page…). If you were to ask me what genre would this fit into, I would give you two: school life and comedy… lots of comedy. The most long-lasting comedic manga I’ve ever read was Seitokai Yakuindomo, and this tops it in my opinion. In other words, there are quite a few sex-related comedy in Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.

The synopsis might not be eye-catching but the fact that it’s quite a broad synopsis hints at how much hidden content can shine within it. The only concern I have is whether or not Saito Hisashi (the director of the Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai) will be able to ‘adapt’ the mange into an anime considering there are quite a number of anime adaptions that couldn’t live up to their pre-successors. Also note that Boku wa Tomodachi is Hirasaka Yomi’s first ever creation and with how the manga is going, I’m really looking forward to whatever he makes next.

BusouShinkiMoonAngel//Renn’sThoughts

This show appears to have the concept of Angelic Layer with the designs of Infinite Stratos. Angelic Layer was a pretty decent shounen; Infinite Stratos was a throwaway harem anime with only hot girls as its selling point. Which one will this show follow?

Well, that’s a hardly even a question. There’s a 90% chance this is going to be fanservice/figurine fodder. But, BUT the director is Masayuki Kojima, director of Monster and the writer did Bonen no Xamdou (which isn’t the highest praise ever, but it could be worse). There is a glimmer of potential. If it sucks (EDIT: this show is out, and it does), at least the episodes are only a few minutes long.

C3-CubexCursedxCurious-//Renn’sThoughts

The draw here is its excellent staff. Shin Oonuma is the guy behind ef – a tale of the two, and his tendency for unique, stunning visuals rivals Shinbo’s. Additionally, Michiko Yokote wrote Princess Tutu of all things and adapted Kobato and xxxHolic. The problem here is the premise. Mysterious, naked loli meets bland harem lead and changes his life forever! And those are some seriously ugly character designs.

Chihayafuru//Renn’sThoughts

It’s a Madhouse adaptation of excellent josei source material. Although I usually associate Madhouse with their grittier, experimental stuff, they do a great job with their feminine source material, too. Think Chobits, Kobato and Nana. Better yet, the director is Morio Asaka of the Aoi Bungaku, Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits and Nana fame. The writer here is either a pseudonym or really new, but like I said, really good source material. This is certainly worth checking out even if the premise looks kind of boring. Trust me, it’s never about the game, so much as it is about the thrill and drama.

Fate/Zero//Tofu’sThoughts

My mind went blank when I first heard about this being animated but I jizzed in my pants from watching the trailer (not literally). Being another work from Type-Moon and one of the most anticipated shows of the season, I feel confident that Fate/Zero will meet my expectations and many others, including the guys over at the DDD Podcast and maybe even Kyokai from Metanorn. If you ever want to know about Type-Moon, these people are your experts and fans of that company.

If you haven’t yet checked out Fate/Stay Night you should definitely go watch it either before or after you start Fate/Zero since Stay Night is the sequel to Zero. Of course, being a Saber fan, seeing her in a suit was awesome but I’ll leave the Saber fanboying another time. There will definitely be more action-packed fighting scenes in Zero compared to Stay Night and also with Kajiura Yura handling the music (she also did the music for Kara no Kyoukai, .hack, Baccano, Kuroshitsuji, Madoka, Gundam Seed and Pandora Hearts) we can expect great things to blossom from Fate/Zero. With that being said, you should definitely check this out minna-san!

GuiltyCrown//Bass’Thoughts

If there ever was a Philadelphia Eagles-incarnation in anime form (Miami Heat? Nah), it would be Guilty Crown. With a dream team staff behind it (Renn will elaborate on this further in his thoughts), as well as the noitaminA slot, it’s got blockbuster written all over it. Red Juice’s designs are always a treat and it’s great that the production values and animation match up to his stellar designs.

The premise is ambitious and there’s potential that this will be an Eden of the East-type of series, where the charming characters and plot mesh perfectly with the detailed art and music. This doesn’t seem to have the humour of EoE but I’m hoping that it will at least have the epic set pieces to compete. The PVs have done nothing but build on the hype, so I’m pretty optimistic that this won’t tank like C and Fractale did. Fingers crossed this series pans out. (And did I mention the art? My god, that art. Look at it. Look at it and try to convince me that it’s not sex on a stick.)

HunterXHunter//Elyon’sThoughts

Considering all the things in desperate need of a remake, I find it weird that they chose Hunter x Hunter, a show that doesn’t need one that badly. As a huge fan of the original series though, I can’t really complain! More of my shouta fantasy Killua? HELL YEAH! Kurapika voiced by Sawashiro Miyuki? DOUBLE HELL YEAH!!! Plus, the original is pretty dated, so it’s going to be awesome to see it all new and better-looking (animated by Madhouse? TRIPLE HELL YEAH!) It seems like they’re going to be pretty faithful to the manga in this one, and, at least from what I’ve heard, that’s a GOOD thing. I’m kind of hoping that this time around they choose to get rid of all of the utterly pointless Greed Island stuff though (even if it did feature some hilarious Hisoka fanservice.)

The staff is kind of meh, and they probably will have to go with an anime original ending since the manga STILL isn’t finished. That is, unless the manga finishes before the show ends since the show’s bound to have a bazillion episodes (it’s been confirmed as having more than 45 already). I doubt it will though. This stuff has been going for what, 12 years now? It can’t be any worse than the troll ending of the original. How badly could they possibly screw this up?

KimitoBoku//Vivi’sThoughts

Without a trailer, it’s hard to judge, but skimming the manga, I would have to say that it’s just fairly interesting. It doesn’t seem like anything super major to get excited about. With a bunch of guys (including twins and an effeminate boy – I love twins and effeminate boys!) bro-ing it out, doing cute things, you think I’d be sold on the idea, but the manga isn’t doing much for me so far. It has solid characters and an episodic narrative style (meaning there’s no central plot), but the emotions and humor (mostly the humor) just kind of pass by. It does, however, have the potential to be a pretty good show.

It’s cute, light-hearted, and feel-good, particularly with its ongoing focus on friendship. A predominantly male cast will no doubt attract fujoshi, but for you het-romantics out there, Kimi to Boku does have a nice, progressive love story, and a likable main female character. Lolicons & tsundere lovers will probably like her. If the anime fleshes out the material, with a good VA cast and background music, maybe it could impact as much as Honey Clover or Usagi Drop. Either way, it looks good for someone who wants something lighthearted, so I’m going to watch it, but it’s a mid-tier priority. inb4 Host Club analogy!

KyoukaiSenjounoHorizon//Tofu’sThoughts

This show looks really good despite the ecchi contents it possesses. I really like the mecha designs and the ships that look like flying boats (this is all in the trailer). I wouldn’t mind ecchi since I’ll be concentrating on other stuff but one thing I really do like in this is the flow of the fight scenes; especially the girl who uses the spear. She’s my current favourite character of the series. I have to admit, the male protagonist looks kinda gay and yes, the girls have massively huge jugs… great.

As hinted in the synopsis, there seems to be a war going on which I’m quite intruged in how they will portray this war. Would it be something like Code Geass? Or maybe something like Gundam, considering there’s flying ships? But my worry for the show is if they’d focus too much on their fan service. This will be another show I’m looking out for from the fall season and if you either enjoy ecchi, mecha or the action-packed fighting then you should give this a try too.

LastExile:GinyokunoFam//Elyon’sThoughts

Alright Gonzo, even though I said you were dead to me after Nyanpire, I’ll put my faith in you one last time. ONLY because most of the original staff for Last Exile will be returning once again, and I have complete confidence in those guys. As somebody who absolutely adored the first season (it’s in my top 10), I can safely say that BLOOD WILL SPILL IF THIS ISN’T AMAZING.

From what I can see in the trailer, we’re really going to be in for a visual treat with this one. The art, the scenery, and the backgrounds are all gorgeous, and the character designs are all really great. I’m not sure whether or not you need to have seen the first Last Exile to understand this or not, but supposedly some of the other characters are going to be returning, so it probably helps if you’ve seen it (And either way, you should go watch it if you haven’t anyway. Because it’s great.)

The reaction to the preview screening of the first episode was also pretty positive (although the apparent nekkidness within the first few minutes of the episode has me slightly concerned….)

It’s an eroge adaptation with generic character designs, a bland male lead, and extraneous fanservice. You see about five of these each season, and 99% of the time, they’re complete garbage. Yeah, we’re done here.

Maken-Ki!//Vivi’sThoughts

LOL #nope. It’s nice that H doujinshika are getting more recognition, but nothing about this is appealing to me. Maybe because I have little interest in pantsu or girls fighting over one guy, regardless of whether it’s physically or emotionally. (I really do not like harems and reverse-harems… or even same-gender filled harems…) The biggest let-down of the trailer is the lack of emphasis on the “combat and magic” these girls have. It’s only shown for a few good seconds, then the rest is shameless fan-service. If this is a summation of the show so far – 95% fan-service, 5% other – then it’s not looking that great, especially since we don’t really get to see the girls utilizing their powers in a practical way, or as any plot-device other than to pick on the main character. Of course if you like repetitive panty-shots and naughty brouhaha, then yay!

Mashiro-IroSymphony//Renn’sThoughts

It’s an eroge adaptation with generic character designs, a bland male lead and extraneous fanservice. You see about five of these each season, and 99% of the time, they’re complete garbage. Usually, I’d leave it at that, but there’s a real tragedy here that I must address.

If anyone ever argues with the statement, “Moe is the cancer killing the anime industry,” point no further than Mashiro-Iro’s animation company, Manglobe. Manglobe has produced anime like Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy and House of Five Leaves. But because otaku prefer moe to their artsy, often brilliant stuff, they now resort to moe shows to prevent going under. It’s the same sob story as what happened to Gonzo, but I don’t think Gonzo ever collapsed into eroge.

When this was first announced, the first thing I thought was “If Ishida Akira played Akise Aru, my life would be complete.” You probably all know this because I’ve spammed it everywhere by now, but…..MY WISH CAME TRUE! *w* I can hardly contain my happiness right now. Please, Asread, don’t ruin this anime. They did a pretty good job with Ga-Rei-Zero, so I guess it could be worse. And the manga is actually finished, so if this is a 2-cour series, I could see it fitting very nicely into 24-26 episodes.

I’ll probably be disappointed, but I will have faith in this anime. FOR ISHIDA AKIRA, I CAN WATCH ANYTHING!

MobileSuitGundamAGE//Renn’sThoughts

I’ve never watched a Gundam series (aside from an attempt at Gundam Unicorn, which is gorgeous but made no sense to me since I’ve, uh, never watched a Gundam series). I’m also not much involved in the mecha fandom, so I’ve no idea what the more informed think of this thing. That said, I think aiming Gundam at a younger audience is a potentially brilliant move. Nab those fanboys when they’re young, I say, and have them buy the figurines for the rest of their lives!

That said, can this show appeal to the older fanboys, too? From what I’ve heard, Gundam is kind of dark and political. Can you really integrate that into a show and still appeal to a younger fanbase? (And if you’ve got designs like that, you’re appealing to a younger fanbase.) To be honest, I’m a little disappointed. I’ve been anticipating the release of a new Gundam, so that I can board the bandwagon. I’m not 12, so this isn’t exactly what I had in mind for a gateway Gundam.

Persona4//Renn’sThoughts

I’d be tempted to watch this for the director alone. Seiji Kishi has made two very solid shows out of dubious, rushed source material (Angel Beats!, Kamisama Dolls). He’s one to watch. And this thing looks gorgeous. The only problem here is that it’s a game adaptation. Not even Hollywood has consistently succeeded at game adaptations, and they’ve got a bigger budget and competitive talent pool than anime companies. But as I’ve watched Seiji Kishi work dubious source material to very entertaining effect before, there’s no way I won’t do it here.

PhiBrain:KaminoPuzzle//Vivi’sThoughts

Dear Lord have mercy, the animation makes me cringe… but I do love puzzles and puzzle/riddle-solving anime/manga, like Paradox Blue and Gambling Emperor Legend ZERO. This show really reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh! for some reason, maybe because it seriously looks like it belongs on 4Kids… I mean, look at that decked-out-in-white dude with the crazy ‘fro! And that main character! I hate to assume (even though I do it all the time), but based on the trailer this looks like standard kids’ show stuff.

Feel free to lose any respect you might have had for me, but I’m actually looking forward to this show, just to see what kind of puzzles he has to solve and if I’m able to solve them before him. Additionally, the director, Junichi Sato, directed some awesome shows – Sailor Moon, Princess Tutu, & Sargeant Kerorororororo – so there is that hope that he knows how to make this awesome. Well, to be honest, I can’t really imagine this being good because it looks really lame, but I’m going to watch it anyway because I’m a loser who likes puzzles… Φ_Φ

Can you hear the sound of fangirls all across the world squeeing their brains out right now? Sekaiichi’s first season had a lot of problems, but it did have some genuinely funny jokes and a pretty decent cast of characters at least. And hopefully now DEEN has made enough money off this to give it a better animation budget.

The real problem is going to be whether or not it actually develops the main couple, which is something the first season refused to do. By the end, it felt like nothing at all had changed. It’s going to need to either add some porn (curse you, censorship!) or DO something for it to be worthwhile. (N-not that I’m hoping for the former…o-or anything. >_> )

ShakugannoShanaIII//Tofu’sThoughts

I guess most of you would hate this show because of Shana but to be honest, I really like Shana with her tsundere tendencies. The trailer doesn’t show much but it does make you guess why Shana was facing off with Yuuji on the bridge. If you look into the light novel, it describes the two joining different factions and thus they must fight each other. It does sound quite action packed but does this mean one of them will die? PLACE YOUR BETS! I’m only kidding folks.

I really like Shana’s character design and her fighting spirit. If you’re thinking whether or not Tofu’s one of those tsundere lovers then yes I am for most of the tsundere’s out there, and Shana is on that list. I look forward to a romantic turn that will focus the series more on Yuuji X Shana. Either way, I’m enjoying this show for what it is and you should only enjoy a show for what it is too. With that being said, haters gonna hate.

Shinryaku!?IkaMusume//Vivi’sThoughts

She never seems to put her tentacles to good use, if you know what I’m sayin’… Anyway, Shinryaku!? Ika Musume is a cute, funny series. Nothing much beyond being funny and cute — not bursting out loud and laughing funny, but the “funny” is consistent enough to keep you laughing, or perhaps chuckling to yourself. This show probably loses followers because of some of its weaker characters (I want to punch my TV every time Sanae appears on screen) and occasional not-so-funny bits (each episode is broken into three segments) but it’s all good fun.

So, if you make it through season 1 (all of the bloggers at Daifuuku seemed to have dropped it at some point lol), then definitely tune in for season 2, because I know I will. If you haven’t started on season 1, do it if you have the time! If you don’t fall in love with Squid Girl, I’ll give you your money back guaranteed*!

*Disclaimer: There is no necessary exchange of money involved in the act of falling in love with Squid Girl, therefore the guarantee is not valid.

Tamayura~Hitotose~//Renn’sThoughts

Director Sato Junichi is the only name you need to know for this project, and he’s the guy behind Ikoku Meiro no Croisee, Aria and, my favorite, Princess Tutu. A list as consistent as this one should tell you whether or not he’s to your tastes; personally, I find his works exquisite. Tamayura should pursue the same gentle atmosphere the rest of these shows did with lush scenery and cute girls.

Tamayura, however, has the double-edge of being a group-of-girls show. For some people (especially fans of Junichi), that should seal the deal, but this is not my sort of genre. I’ve got a little sister, and trust me, these shows do not portray how girls act in real life. Then again, that’s probably the point. Certainly tune in for the director, but be surprised if this is his most original work.

Un-Go//Renn’sThoughts

Unpopular opinion, but I’m just as excited for Un-Go as I am for this season’s other noitaminA, Guilty Crown. Un-Go has my favorite kind of source material: the novel. Not a light novel but a literary one (think Aoi Bungaku and The Tatami Galaxy). Plus, it’s got a pretty sweet staff itself with the team from the original Fullmetal Alchemist. The art direction won’t be as strong as Guilty Crown, but there’s lots to look forward to here.

But, it’s double-edged as a BONES anime. On the positive side, it’s an adaptation. Gosick aside, BONES does excellent adaptations so long as it stays true to the source material. On the negative side, Un-Go looks like it’s going to waver from its source material, and BONES is no good at that. And on the neutral side, it’s BONES in noitaminA. BONES in noitaminA has lead to Jyu Oh Sei, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, and No. 6. Consider the range there. The only thing you might get out of that is BL.

Working’!!//Tofu’sThoughts

Okay let’s get this straight folks. Although Hikasa Yoko is voicing a character (Izumi Takanashi) in Working it IS NOT the whole reason why I think the first season was great… only partially. Yes, this is the second season of Working and for those who got fooled by their April Fool’s joke, we feel your pain but nevertheless, Working is considered one of the most anticipated shows of the season. I won’t argue about whether it is or not but I will tell you why you should pick this up. The setting takes place mainly in a restaurant, and it smartly brings all the unique characters together.

Working mixes romance with comedy by mixing and matching individuals that are total opposites. You’d think that the show might be a disaster, but anything can happen inside and outside of a restaurant with an androphobic girl, a lazy but violent manager, a katana-wielding waitress, a waiter who’s enamoured by cute things and many others. Other than that, if you love romantic comedy, then you should definitely give Working a try! For those who’ve seen the pre-air, tell us what you guys think!

LastWords

Skimming through the list, you would be forgiven if you think that other than the big hitters, fall doesn’t have much else to offer. Dig a bit deeper though and you’ll find some other shows with the potential to surprise. Chihayafuru is one and Mirai Nikki could possibly be another. To be honest, there seems to be more to be excited about here than the summer anime, and I was pretty happy with the turnout there.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the summer anime, mediocre as they were. Maybe I’m just easy to please? I’m hoping for some surprises here and there. But, as an advocate of anime dramas, I’m slightly disappointed at the lack of this particular genre here. There seems to be an influx of fanservice and moe so that may be a cause for concern (then again, when hasn’t this been the case?).

I guess I won’t know for sure till the season actually starts, but, for now, I’ll remain cautiously optimistic. I took the same stance during the summer preview and was happy to be proven wrong with some anime. If I do the same here, I might strike luck once again? If not, at least I’ll be able to save my bandwidth, which is always a cause for celebration considering the huge amount of shows I’m currently following.

Possibly Blogging: Persona 4, Guilty Crown

☆☆☆

MY BODY IS NOT PREPARED FOR THIS SEASON YET! There’s just too many promising things! From Last Exile, Mirai Nikki, Ika Musume, Guilty Crown, Hunter x Hunter, Un-Go, Phi-Brain, Chihayafuru, Kimi to Boku, Persona 4, Fate/Zero, Tamayura, Working’!!- they all look great, and I’ll definitely be checking them all out while neglecting my homework. While I doubt we’ll see any classics (well, maybe Last Exile), at the very least this season looks a lot stronger than the Summer season. Sure, there’s the usual absundance of harem and moe, but with such a long list, it’s sort of a given that it would be like that, and there’s more than enough to make up for it. Like Ishida Akira playing Akise Aru. (No, I will not stop mentioning that.)

Possibly Blogging: MIRAI NIKKI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, SekaiIchi Hatsukoi 2 (probably as fujoshi tag-teams again), Hunter x Hunter

☆☆☆

How good this season is depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for anime that you’ll remember forever, then you’re dependent on how good these noitaminA shows and Persona 4 are (chances of them becoming classics? They look godly, but eh, we’ll see). But if you’re the type who simply likes to be entertained, there’s a lot of interesting stuff here. There’s a bunch of really good directors working iffy premises, and there’s a bunch of bad directors working good premises. And there are sequels, tons of sequels, sadly to shows I haven’t seen but are clearly popular enough warrant a spinoff.

2011 has been a great year, so I won’t be disappointed by a mediocre fall season. Of course, I wouldn’t mind if the two Noitamina, Hunter x Hunter, Persona 4, and Chihayafuru join this year’s excellence parade. And while I’m not totally sure of their potential, I’ll tune in to the new Last Exile, Fate/Zero, Tamayura, Phi-Brain, Mirai Nikki and C3.

Possibly Blogging: Un-Go, Phi-Brain, Last Exile – Fam The Silver Wing, Chihayafuru

☆☆☆

Long list? I’m sure most of us would agree that the fall season definitely has much more to offer than summer and even the one before, spring. For those who’ve just skimmed through the shows, the ones I’m really looking forward to the most are: Fate/Zero, Boku Tomodachi, Shakugan, Bakuman, Working’!!, Gundam AGE, Persona 4, Guilty Crown and Tamayura. I’ll definitely be trying out the rest of the season to see if there’s any hidden potential I might’ve looked over and you should too! Other than that, till next time minna-san!

Possibly Blogging: Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai, Fate/Zero, Bakuman, Tamayura, Working’!!

☆☆☆

After going through the whole list a second time after, I’m actually surprised at how many shows I’m considering to watch. Going through it once, my cynical old brain automatically goes, “Pffft, that summary is so typical,” or, “This looks so lame and overdone,” but of course it’s not just about the summary or the character designs; it’s ultimately about the show, and you can never tell what’s really good or bad without watching it. (Or you can let us watch it and read our reviews on it afterwards. We do that because we love you guys!)

It took a little self-debating for me to say this, but I think this season might be better than summer season. There are a lot of shows I want to watch, especially action-packed, gunslingin’ airship sort of action/adventure shows. Maybe those are the only kind of shows I remember from the list, but nevertheless I’m watching Last Exile (definitely), Hunter x Hunter (definitely), Mirai Nikki, Squid Girl, Guilty Crown, Fate/Zero, Kimi to Boku, Bakuman, Working!!, Shakugan, Un-Go — you know, stuff everyone’s going to watch. Plus Pea-Brain. Hehe.

Possibly Blogging: Phi-Brain, Chihayafuru, Ika Musume, Kimi to Boku
