If you’re a follower of our site, you know that every week we try to have an art post showcasing some amazing people’s works. However, this time, in an attempt to mix things up a bit and get our readers/lurkers involved in the fun, we’d like to invite everybody out there to participate in our first ever Sekijitsu Art Contest!
The rules are simple: Just send us a link to your Deviantart/Pixiv/Photobucket/Flickr/Whatever account, and a panel of judges (the Sekijitsu writers) will choose one of you talented folks to spotlight in our next weekly art segment along with two runner-ups. If you don’t have your art on an account, then attaching your work to an e-mail is fine too, but there has to be enough material to fill a post (that doesn’t mean there has to be like 300 pictures or anything, but at least 5-10.)
To enter, send a link to your gallery (through our contact form) along with your name.
Things that will NOT be accepted:
- Stolen art (obviously)
- Traced art
- Doll bases
- Prose, poetry, and anything written
- Demotivation posters
- Edited work that isn’t your own.
**Note: These things can be in your gallery (well, except the stolen stuff), but they aren’t eligible for judging. We’ll only be looking at the art work, and we’ll judge who wins based on whose gallery we, as a team, like the most.
Things that WILL be accepted:
- Hand-drawn art
- Digital art
- Hand-made crafts (like dolls you sewed yourself or something along those lines)
- Original works
- Light yaoi/yuri- but we won’t be including any NSFW in the post if you get picked.
Why you should enter:
- Quite a few eyeballs will be looking at your art, and it’s a great opportunity to promote your work!
- You’ll be the first ever winner of the first ever Sekijitsu contest. You’ll be like…a Sekijitsu celebrity!
- You’ll receive congratulations/virtual glomps from all the writers.
So what are you waiting for? ENTER NOW!!!!!!
The deadline to enter is November 24th, 2011. (If this changes, we’ll announce it.)
If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comment section. Chances are there might be somebody with the same one! (If you really don’t want to though, then e-mail it)
Encouragement from the writers:
Are you on the fence? Just contemplating maybe possibly entering but unsure whether it’s worth a shot? DO IT!!!!!!! Don’t believe in yourself, BELIEVE IN ME WHO BELIEVES IN YOU!!!! And remember that even though everybody can’t win, that doesn’t mean that you aren’t a good artist!
Here’s wishing the best of luck to everybody who enters!
Girls and Boys, small or big, ugly or beautiful, it doesn’t matter! What matters is your passion to pick up that drawing utensil and create art in any shape or form. Do not be shy if you believe your drawing is bad, no one is perfect and I too know how all you shy readers/lurkers feel. Trust me, my art isn’t that great as well but I loved to draw and I still do at times. It’s not great, but I like it and that’s all that matters in this competition – Passion. I wish all of you the best of luck and how knows, YOUR art might just be the one minna-san!
Good luck everyone! Although Japan & pixiv – where we usually get the artwork for our art posts – is home to many talented artists who specialize in the “anime/manga” style (I hate to say that, because anime & manga can vary soooo much), we know that there’s talent everywhere, especially in you readers! It’s kind of funny because a lot of anibloggers like to draw as well, like our Bassun & Elyon, or Meta’s Overcooled & Fosh, just to name a few! So don’t be shy, and submit your artwork :) We will cherish every submission ♥
