Guilty Crown 12
Hello minna-san! Here’s episode 12 titled “The Lost Christmas” (props to Divine over at Random Curiosity for picking up the title mistake). Hope you enjoy!
To the most of us who’ve seen episode 12, yeah it certainly felt like a final episode even though there are still 10 more episodes left. Whether or not Guilty Crown will become a slice-of-life, school-life anime after this is anyone’s guess. If it does take that turn of events, I don’t even know what to think of Guilty Crown anymore other than completely disappointing. I won’t be surprised if the producer decided to end the show right here due to a sudden realization that they don’t have any budget left. What this episode did do was give birth to a new ‘arc’ you could say but was it the right choice? Guilty Crown has already killed off so many characters; both good and bad. Gai is dead which would most likely leave Shu to taking the leading position (something like TTGL but not as great) and Shuichiro is also dead when we was the head villain pulling the strings ever since the start. Both Daath (Vader) and Segai are neutral so I’m curious to seeing what role they play in the future (that’s if the producer doesn’t just throw them away…).
So who are the potential bad guys here? The leftover Anti-Body members are the only people that come to my mind, unless a new villain is introduced. Speaking of Segai, a friend of mine I was discussing with about 2 months ago said to me that “Segai seems to be a neutral and is only doing the things he’s doing because it interests him” I don’t know if everyone else felt that way but I didn’t see it until episode 12. As for Daath (Vader), he came into the picture for two episodes acting all high-and-mighty and now he’s probably back at his house staring out the window like the first time we saw him. The only reason he came into the picture was because he was interested in what Shuichiro was doing. In the end Shuichiro is dead so Daath (Vader) doesn’t have any reason to fight (for now).
The whole ‘best friend realization’ didn’t come as a surprise for me as it did for a few anibloggers out there due to one reason: I already knew the boy with that blonde hair in the picture (which that very picture was shown to us a while ago) was Gai and that with that realization, I came to the conclusion that Gai and Shu had some relationship in the past. If you’re wondering what it is that I did or didn’t like in episode 12 is that I didn’t like how it felt like a final episode due to the fact that it has left us with nothing to go on. What will Shu do now? Go back to school? The anti-bodies goal was to create world destruction and with that gone, what will they do now? Gai’s goal to reaching Mana through using the Undertakers is fulfilled so what happens to them? Everyone’s objectives and their reason to keep fighting will change so dramatically that it’s worrying whether or not Guilty Crown will continue to plummet downhill or actually pick up. Everything both sides did was to reach to this turning point which ends in a complete failure for the Anti-Bodies and no reason to fight on for Undertakers since they wanted to keep Mana asleep by stealing the crystal (that’s my guess).
There’s a few parts in the episode which didn’t really fit in well with ‘realism’ like Inori’s failed crying, a discussion and a flashback between Gai and Shu, surrounded by Mana’s ‘eyes’ which could’ve killed them in 2 seconds flat yet chose not to? Then again this is all nit-picking so I don’t want to dig into that too much. I know some of you thought the marriage ceremony was weird but it does make sense since if Shu accepted to marry Mana in the past, that is how the ceremony would’ve been like to ‘create’ a new world with their genes. Just like what Daath (Vader) meant by Shuichirou being the progenitor of the ‘new human race’ with Mana. Even with all the things I’ve said up top, I will still be continuing the series to see how it will turn out with the 10 episodes it has but let me mention it to everyone now that I will cease blogging about Guilty Crown after this post. I will also be dropping Bakuman S2 and I’ll either continue Chihayafuru or replace it with Inu X Boku SS.

Rating: I’ve decided to give this episode 6 out of 10. Although it was close to getting a 5, it’s not like I hated every part of the episode yet I can’t find anything to like in the episode too. Characters were killed off but in a very cheesy way (especially Gai’s death whom Gai was the one of the reasons most of us kept watching this), leaving nothing to be carried on into the next 10 episodes. As for me, I just want to see more Ayase and Tsugumi in the show but besides that, I am honestly disappointed how Guilty Crown still fails to execute its plots and story in an effective way after 12 episodes but whatever happens in the next 10 episodes is anyone’s guess.
Till next time minna-san!

this episode is too forced – making the past 11 episodes irrelevant. i can understand that you will drop blogging Guilty Crown, but Chihayafuru is a great and solid series. Can you continue blogging it? I wouldn't mind if you don't pick up Inu X Boku SS if you don't have time…
I was thinking of blogging both Chihayafuru and Inu X Boku SS but due to a very busy schedule awaiting me for the year, I'll only be able to continue one series each season but I will think on it.

I'm wondering what the connection is between the Undertakers and the Daath Grave Keeper. And shuichiro's clothes make him look like a clergyman … maybe there's gonna be some dude called the Grave Digger!! jks :P _ Well, I'm still pretty disappointed how Gai died. (They could have at least let him die with style).and it's unclear what happened to Shuichiro… (Daath's touch of death? who knows…)
Shuichiro would most likely be dead, if not from Daath’s touch then the whole building collapsing though as for the connection between Undertakers and Daath himself, there is none other than the fact that Daath was probably one of the research members who worked with Shuichirou and Shu’s dad and mum so Gai just knew him in a way I guess
Thanks Tofu for thinking about it. :)
Is it just me or does Segai bring back memories of Jeremiah from Code Geass? Or am I making too much of a connection between two madmen?
There must be a reason why that connection was made~ xD I for one never made that connection since I totaly forgot who Jeremiah was or how he acted in Code Geass ahahaha…haha…ha… OTL

Ohhhh guilty crown…what is going on? Killing Gai after you revealed him to be the best damn character! And Shu's childhood friend? I found it funny Gai in the past wanted to be just like Shu who was brave and heroic. Talk about some major role reversal up to this episode, but the flashback was lame and Inori's forced tears were so random.
Yeah I was just about to comment on Segai! I hope he joins up with the other funeral parlor members because what else is he going to do? The Anti-bodies are pretty much done…and Daath is missing! Also who will take up lead of the Funeral parlor? Sure as hell won't be OH MA SHOEEEEE at least that would be to easy.
Ep 13 showed them back in school…I am expecting a time jump as in a month or a few weeks passed, unless they city got cleaned up super fast…
Ahahaha the episode I had didn't have any previews for some strange reason but if we're talking about time jumps and school life… Guilty Crown might really become a 100% school-life anime O_O I don't want that.
