As usual, Bass comes stumbling through the gates dead last. Funny how I’m always the last to jump on these bandwagons, but what the hey, better late than never right? If the title misled you into thinking that this is a post about my NSFW escapades, then you’ve been tricked. But instead of buggering off, how bout learning a little bit about me? I guarantee that it’ll be 10 minutes of your life you wish you could take back ^_~

QuestionsaboutAnime

1. Who is your favorite male anime character?

A straight toss up between Lelouch from Code Geass and Baka-Ouji from Level E. Like the rest of my life, I’m very flip-floppy when it comes to picking favourites. Some days, I’ll pick Lelouch because I’ll feel particularly emo on the day, but more often than not, I’d pick Baka-Ouji for his tendencies of trolling people into oblivion.

 2. Who is your favorite female character?

Probably Kana Minami from Minami-ke. For some reason, I’ve always been interested in her design-wise. She’s got the whole twin-tail thing goin on, a very mischievous personality as well as a natural affability. And yes, I am well aware of the fact that she’s practically a middle schooler.

3. What is your favorite anime soundtrack?

In terms of the entire record, it’s hard to beat Samurai Champloo. Nujabes’ jazz/hip-hop hybrid beats always amp me up and it was such a refreshing twist on the samurai genre. Welcome to the NHK also had some memorable songs, such as Hitori Boochi, the OP Puzzle and these two in particular. And who can ever forget Gurren Lagann’s classic twist on Opera, Libera me from hell?

4. What is your favorite anime opening + animation?

Eden of the East’s OP. I’ve never seen an english song used in an anime before so it definitely stood out. It also helped that it was an amazing song. The visuals are also pretty rad, even if the colors don’t particularly mesh well. Lots of foreshadowing in dem words.

5. What is your favorite anime ending song + animation?

The ED sequence from Un-Go stands out the most to me, even to this day. The song is just amazing and the art style is so striking. That piano intro? The opening male vocals? That haunting female chorus? *dies from eargasm*

*Note* Can’t find the ED for Un-Go so you’ll have to make do with this fan version :P

6. What is your favorite anime scene?

My favourite scenes tend to be the emotional and sad ones. In Eyeshield for instance, the moment Sena reveals his identity in the Bandou Spiders match always manages to get to me. The ending to Double Arts was also beautifully done, considering the premature ending it received.  Kamina’s death and Simon/Nia’s wedding from Gurren Lagann also hits deep, as well as Lelouch’s redemption at the end of Code Geass.

There’s also the more sombre moments in Welcome to NHK along with a few scenes in manga like Naruto (Jiraiya’s death was masterfully executed, along with Minato/Kushina’s sacrifice). To pick just one would be an impossible task for me, but these ones definitely evoke strong emotion from me.

7. If you could meet an anime character who would it be?

Hiruma from Eyeshield 21. It would be my honour to be blackmailed and humiliated by him. #masochist

8. What anime character is most similar to you in terms of personality?

I’d like to say Sendoh from Slam Dunk but that’s probably too generous. I’d say Agata from Sket Dance is probably the most similar. A lazy, quiet, but surprisingly witty boss who’d rather lurk around and sleep while his minions/work mates do all the work.

9. What is your favorite thing about anime?

Other than my fascination with the art, I’d say that my favourite thing about manga/anime is the different genres available as well as the community behind it. It’s always awesome to be able to enjoy something like this and share it with people, and seeing as the subject matter tends to be more mature than a standard cartoon, it meshes my inner-child along with my more mature side.

In a nutshell, it’s a pleasant release from harsh reality.

10. What is your least favorite thing about anime?

Public perception. It’s generally frowned upon I suppose. Labels such as otaku are often used in derogatory terms, even within our own community. If anime was as socially accepted as other forms of entertainment, the world would be a better place.

11. Who are your favorite anime couple?

Probably Saki/Takizawa from Eden of the East, Simon/Nia from Gurren Lagann and Renton/Eureka from Eureka Seven.

12. Who is your favorite anime animal?

Number 2 from Mawaru Penguindrum.

13. What anime would make a good game?

Eyeshield 21 would make a great Madden game…. #justsaying

But yea, Code Geass would have made an excellent tactical/strategy RPG of some sort, and I can see Gurren Lagann become a massive hack-and-slash brawler of some sort. Dynasty Warriors: Gurren-dan anyone? Samurai Champloo with Ninja Gaiden mechanics would also be beastly….

14. What game would make a good anime?

I would have said Persona but that shit’s already done. So maybe RPGs like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts etc etc.

15. What was the first anime you ever watched?

Dragonball, Digimon and Pokemon were my first but in terms of serious stuff, I’d say Naruto. But even then, I followed the manga instead of the anime.

16. Do you think you’ll ever stop watching anime?

Yes, but not by choice. I’ll never stop if it’s up to me but if life gets busy, it’ll be harder to find time to indulge. I’m already clogged up as it is this year, but I should be able to follow along with one or two series per season for now.

17. What is your favorite genre of anime?

I’d love to say sports, but really I’ve only truly loved Slam Dunk and Eyeshield. I’m a stickler for a standard shounen adventure but as of late, I’m really getting into the more mystery/suspense based stories. Also, slice-of-life/comedy/romance is always an easy way to get me interested.

I’m fairly easy to please though, I get entertained very easily.

18. What is your least favorite genre of anime?

Super moe, ecchi and certain harem shows.

19. Are you open about watching anime with people you know?

Hehe sadly, only 4 or 5 people know about this hobby of mine in real life. And even then, no one knows the extent of my obsession.

20. Have you ever been to Japan?

Nope but it’s definitely on the cards.

21. What anime was the biggest let down for you?

The Eyeshield anime, in terms of the visual art style. It was really sloppy and didn’t fit the epic art of the manga. Most of the overhyped noitaminA shows have also let me down, mostly Guilty Crown and C. I will never allow myself to be that hyped again for an anime ever.

22. What anime was better then expected?

Level E. That one took me by surprise since I did not expect it to be such a troll. The twist in episode 3 still feels fresh in my mind.

23. What is the best anime fight scene?

Let’s see…..the battles in Eyeshield 21 are a highlight (vs Shinryuuji, vs Oujou) and the Gurren Lagann fights are always epic. But in terms of style, Samurai Champloo has the most appealing fights, in terms of visuals and sound.

24. Who is your anime waifu?

Probably Yomi from Ga-Rei: Zero. And yes, I will probably be killed in my sleep at some point.

25. What was your favorite video game as a child?

This question is the female equivalent of asking a female what shoes does she like. There’s no way I can pick just one…..I guess the standouts are FFVII, Tony Hawk, Gran Turismo and any other game I can get my grubby little hands on.

Oh, and where would I be without POKEMON?

QuestionsaboutMe

26. Most Embarrassing moment?

Every time a teacher tries to say my name but butchers it in high school.

Honestly though, I’m blanking out big time on this one.

27a. Can you drive?

Definitely, though I do need to ask mum first if I want to drive on the other side of the road.

27b. Do you have a car?

A Mitsubishi Gallant. Unfortunately for me, dad always uses it to drive to work, leaving me to take the bus to town since parking fees are a bitch in the city.

28. Are you mature?

Most people think I am but my tweets suggest otherwise.

29. What year were you born?

1990. No I am not old, I’m just well-refined.

30. Do you prefer cats or dogs?

I prefer bunnies and owls, but given the two options here, I’d go for cats.

Cats have the potential to be evil. I see them as super villains where as a dog’s highest potential is that of a henchman.

31. Describe yourself physically.

I’m what you would call a sloppy athlete. I have an athletic build but I carry myself like a 80 year old man. My posture comes and goes, depending on the weather but when I need to impress, I fail to. Other than that, I have wavy brown hair which is untameable and a smile that never shows teeth. The secrets that lie beneath those lips…..

Mum says I’m adorable in the right light. She’s very mean.

32. What would you name your first child?

My first child would definitely be a boy but for fear of tmi, I won’t be disclosing the name. I’d say that it would be pretty similar to a character in Naruto, which would be pretty unique and not weaboo. No, my son will not be bullied. Yes, people will always have trouble with his name. No, this is definitely a necessary burden.

33. What is the worst injury you have ever had?

I broke my femur bone on the last day of exams/senior year in high school. It happened during a soccer game that I had after my last calc exam. I don’t know why, but fate decided against me having a fun, last summer with my friends before going off to university.

“Apparently” the femur is the hardest bone in the body but mine snapped in half like a twig. I had to have a titanium rod inserted into the bone through surgery, and the rehab/subsequent 1 year sports hiatus was not all that fun. Funnily enough though, no one thought that I had broken anything when it happened, including myself. Guess that’s why I stayed a good 1 and a half hours on the sideline after the incident, cos I’m a dumbass who doesn’t know what pain is.

Morale of the story, don’t get run over by a giant maori man while twisting your leg to turn with your cleats stuck in the mud. And drink more milk.

34. What is your worse habit?

I would say procrastination, but at this point in my life it’s a lifestyle by nature, not by choice. So other than that, I would say…..taking hours to finally get out of bed and do something in the morning.

I also stick out my tongue a lot when I’m deep in concentration, mostly during drawing, study or sports. Some love it, some don’t.

35. Do you drink or smoke?

Never. Smoking is the equivalent of the devil taking a fart into your lungs.

36. Do you have a tattoo?

No. Some tattoos are cool and all, but I’m not a canvas.

37. Are you a morning person or a night person?

I used to be a night person but due to some unforeseen developments, I had to forcefully transform myself into a morning man. And no, I do not regret it one bit.

 38. Have you ever slept past midday

Exclusively through university.

39. Do you regret anything?

I regret every single break I took from anime blogging. I regret every single bad hair day. I regret all the days that I don’t bring an umbrella, cos 9 times out of 10, it would rain. I regret not getting on this 50 questions bandwagon sooner. I regret not getting out of bed 10 minutes earlier this morning, cos now the shower is out of hot water. I regret not going to the supermarket, cos I’m out of tuna. I regret not learning how to cook. I regret regretting a lot of things, but I don’t regret making mistakes.

40. Can you count the number of friends you have on one hand?

Close ones….possibly two hands.

41. Do you wear glasses?

Nope. But my old flatmate, the sweetheart that he was, used to buy glasses just to try out different fashion styles. He would spend upwards of $200 on different frames with fake lenses, just to create a new look. I love you Frank, you’re one of my best friends and all, but that’s just plain stupid.

42. Are you a picky eater?

Beggars can’t be choosers, so I take what I can get. I went through the entirety of 2008 eating tuna sandwiches for dinner 4 out of the 7 days.

43. Would you die for someone?

My loved ones yes, but probably with a catch. There’s only one person out there that I would die for with no strings attached.

44. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Teleporting would be nice. Being able to heal anything would be pretty neat too. Medical degree without the crippling med school loans.

45. Do you believe in the supernatural?

Sort of. I’ve had instances where I do wonder if there are things out there. They mostly involve my deceased relatives.

46. Would you rather be rich or famous?

Rich. So I can pay Murata and Inagaki-sensei to continue Eyeshield into its college arc, as well as pay Komi Naoshi-sensei to complete Double Arts the way it’s intended to.

47. Have you ever committed a crime?

I once paid $150 for not wearing a safety belt. While sitting in the back seat. With 2 other people who weren’t wearing safety belts on either side of me, but hid it better due to their “generous” size.

48. Time Traveler or ghost?

Time traveler. I’ll make a list of things to tell young-Bass to avoid doing, and proceed to laugh at him still making the same god-awful mistakes.

49. Does someone have a crush on you?

I say no but my girlfriend says yes.

50. Are you in a relationship?

Yes, I am happily taken by a cute, fluffy honey bunnee <3
