Kore wa Zombie desu ka – Of the Dead 02

Kore wa Zombie does their part in campaigning against the new SOPA

I accept the fact that Kore wa Zombie lacks in the story and plot department. In the back of my mind, I really do think Kore wa Zombie should’ve just been a comedy instead of actually being a story driven series. Because of it, you walk in with one perspective and come out with another. I’ve learnt not to expect too much from Kore wa Zombie’s story and because of it, I’ve enjoyed episode 1 and 2 more so than the majority of people. Yeah, there’s also romance in it too which suits the kind of comedy Kore wa Zombie implements in their series: sexual humour. But hey, I’m not complaining considering I love Kore wa Zombie a lot and episode 2 only made me love it more!

"Johnny don't go~!" "I have to Angelina... I must become stronger... I'll be back" "No Johnny no~!"

Episode 2 also had a bit of fun showing us some ‘deep bonding’ moments which I found to be ironically funny with the contrast between such a ‘heartwarming’ scene that’s humorously subtle and the usual sexually-over-the-top comedy shown nearly 80% of the time in every episode. I’ve realized that the form of comedy that continues to get my funny bone is sexual humour so really, am I the best to provide such bias views on such a series? Well I am anyways so deal with it “you piece of shit”! (PS: it’s a joke, don’t take it seriously, I love you guys… no wait, come back!) Well sorry about that, thought I’d give my goddess Hikasa Yoko a bit of love on the post considering I’m a huge Hikasa Yoko fan. *ahem* Moving on!

Like the troll face, I believe Aikawa deserves to be the running picture for any FML situations agreed?

If any of you readers out there want to get into Kore wa Zombie’s second season, don’t expect too much story-wise. If you appreciate the comedy then you’ll love season 2 (for what it is so far). Though besides Kore wa Zombie’s great use of comedy (even as repetitive it can get), the music has always caught my interest as a music student myself who especially loves punk and rock. Not only that, I love seeing these characters interact with each other in the comedy sense but as well as for character development or just heartwarming moments evident in episode 2. They’re able to flow between such big contrasts easily that it’s admirable all the time. *SPOILER ALERT*  Remember episode 11 of the first season? That moment Yuu finally spoke at the end? It was beautiful and executed greatly for a heartwarming, one-on-one moment between Aikawa and Yuu.

Edited for your convenience ;D

I’m really itching to see what role Chris (a.k.a the girl with purple hair and always drinks. She is also named Takeshi Kurusu) plays in the 2nd season of Kore wa Zombie considering the first 2 episodes were pure comedy oriented. I definitely don’t want to keep seeing such a mysterious character with only one purpose: to drink. Hopefully we’ll see a twist in her character in the next episode or else I’ll really be disappointed though I’m partially disappointed that Kore wa Zombie has chosen to use the same antagonist from season 1 in season 2. I hope there’s a much more entertainingly better reason than something like “we ran out of ideas for antagonists so we’re gonna use the same ones again”. Either way, I enjoyed episode 2 a lot for the comedy and heartwarming moments it had and I’d love to hear your thoughts on episode 2 guys!

Rating: 7/10
