Accel World 02

It is still unclear what Accel World can provide us plot wise considering the Burst program’s purpose is to win in order to keep accelerating. Though such a program would definitely hold more mysteries and that’s where the plot lies in the story. I’m definitely interested to see how the series will progress and reach its finale though on a negative note, I’m not exactly fond of the male protagonist. Haruyuki’s character design is different to the rest not just in terms of him being fatter but even his eyes are drawn differently compared to the guys and girls at school. It does suit his character but personally I’d prefer Haruyuki’s character design to be the same as the rest.

Nomobuyo, Oshi, Hashitawa, Dokeda, Gunmicha, De-Ribura!

Episode 2 isn’t anything special and consisted of a lot of explanation behind what the Brain Burst program is. It’s almost like reading a manual for a game and I’m sure most of us don’t even read manuals correct? Or is it just me? Well even if that’s true or not, I can definitely tell you what I’m enjoying the most about Accel World. And that is Kuroyukihime. Obvious right? I’m a sucker for girls with long, dark hair and if they’ve got a tsundere side as well, it’s a double win in my book! But seriously, I love Kuroyukihime’s persona and I’m interested to see what her ‘ugly form’ is that she speaks of. Was it the casual clothing she wore as she watched Haruyuki fight or something else?

I’d be lying to you if I said I didn’t like the battle between Silver Crow and Ash Roller. It was intriguingly interesting to see Haruyuki use his brain to fight than brawns which is the typical ‘shounen cop-out’ in a fight. I’d love to see how Kuroyukihime fairs in a Burst battle and it does seem likely we will witness such an event in the next episode according to the preview. Overall the 1st episode was to gain your curiosity about the world in which Haruyuki lives in so with that being a success, it’s only natural to get all the explanation out of the way in the next episode.

Sadly it greatly reduces story progression or even halts it for the time being so even though episode 2 felt mediocre throughout the whole episode, the fighting saved it from being utterly boring to watch. Even so, I will still stress that fact that Accel World holds a lot of potential so for those who are hesitant about continuing it, I can tell you that you’re better off looking forward to what they have installed for us in the future than judge from the performance episode 2 presented.
