Sankarea 07 – 08
Like what Furuya said, I’m fed up with Yasutaka and don’t care about Mogi at all. I don’t think I’ll ever like them as characters part of the Sankarea cast but I really do hope they’ll have a bigger role in the story than what we’ve seen so far. I know I’ve said it many times but it’s true. If you’re going to include characters in such a story-focused show, you need them play a part in it with development. This is most likely why I loved Wanko’s back-story and her current development so far.
I’m not sure how to put it but her childhood story really touched me. Even though Furuya’s quite the dense character (unless he already knows about Wanko’s feelings but choose to ignore them), Wanko’s love development is adorable even as cliche as it is. In other words, I’ve found Wanko to be a more interesting character than I had initially thought of her yet I can’t quite explain it to you so please accept my apology. On the other hand, I really missed seeing Rea even if it was only for an episode so being able to witness her innocence at the shopping mall was absolutely cute!
I’ve waited to see Rea indulge in the ‘normal’ stuff she’s always wanted to do and we finally got to see it in episode 8! Just how charming can she get!? And the fact that Furuya is scared of Hunted Houses but not horror and zombies is ironically funny. I know that I’m fine with zombie’s but I hate, hate, HATE horror and hunted houses! But as ironic as that was, Sankarea was quick to change the mood and touch my heart deeply. As happy as Rea is and wishes to cry in happiness, she cannot. It might just be me but I found it to be really saddening how she can’t experience those emotions for being a zombie. Well… it was nice as it lasted until Yatsutaka came on screen.

Rating: I’ve decided to give both episodes an overall 8 out of 10. Sankarea’s really gotten more interesting with Furuya’s capture. I can’t even begin to imagine what Rea’s father will do to him; putting me on the edge of my seat nervously imagining any possible outcomes. Even so, it was a great cliffhanger and to see a beautiful character development from Wanko and Rea’s beautiful air time as well was just… LOVE! I’d say that Sankarea is currently sitting either first or second as Best of the Season for me personally. Let us hope episode 9 will deliver another great episode!
