Kokoro Connect 06
I’ve decided to properly blog Kokoro Connect from now on. Because of this, Kokoro Connect will be removed from the Weekly Roundup. Also to note, the Weekly Roundup will now consist of shows I wish to cover than the shows I’m watching. As an example, I’ve decided to drop Natsuyuki Rendezvous from the Weekly Roundup post not because I’ve dropped it but due to lack of interest to keep covering it. I apologize if this negatively affects anyone.
I had guessed that Inaba would be our next focus and damn am I happy to be right! Though celebrations aside, episode 6 kept us intrigued with a new side to Inaba that we’ve never seen before. Usually the start of a new arc would feel bland but Kokoro Connect did well to keep its level of entertainment with the introduction of a new twist than just regurgitating the body swapping element. We knew that Inaba was already in an insecure state but with the ‘true desire’ incident happening, you can imagine how desperate she’d be to hide her emotions – adding even more to her insecurity as we’ve witnessed near the end.
Iori X Taichi Postponed!?
It’s a shame that due to the whole ‘true desires’ incident, Iori and Taichi would have to keep their distance from each other just in case anything bazaar happens but even so, their phone conversation had a mysterious charm to it even though it was quite depressing and sad. Leave it to Taichi to cheer people up! But what did Iori mean by “I can’t screw up this time” right at the end!? It looks like there’s definitely more to Iori than we think which is good. Though besides that, I’m happy they didn’t take a static approach in order to move onto the next character arc (which was something I actually thought they’d do… silly me). I would’ve hated them for playing the “Yo I’m all fine now” card because it wouldn’t feel realistic at all. Mental trauma’s and such like takes time to heal so it’s a good thing that even though the overall focus has changed, we’re not ignoring any potential plot holes left behind.
Rating: I’ve decided to give this episode 8 out of 10. blah It was a good idea to keep the show interesting by going straight to the point though slowly hinting the ‘true desires’ incident. But while it was quite serioud and dramatic throughout the episode, the few amounts of humorous implications did not fail to entertain. Though there was so much happening back and forth, Silver Link did well refraining from telling us too much in order to keep the new arc intriguing and making me dying to watch the next episode!
