Considering that we encountered her father a couple of episodes ago, it was only a matter of time until the female half of the parental unit appeared.Sasami-san@Ganbaranai shows that despite its eccentric (and inconsistent nature), it is unafraid to conform to standard anime tropes. In this case, it’s the dead mother. But, what a twist, she has returned from the underworld! At least she wasn’t resurrected thanks so Sasami’s yearning to meet her again and such.
I’m actually happy about the cliffhanger, too. This is the most interesting the show has been since the first episode, so I’m glad we’re making the mother story take up two episodes. It’s just a matter of how Sasami will prevent her mom from taking her back into shrine seclusion.
This was my favorite part of the episode. By far.
