Sekijitsu was founded by Bass three months (28/01/10) after his previous blog tanked due to problems with his host provider. Instead of rebuilding on his old project and attempt to revive Heta no Yoko-Zuki, he decided to start fresh with a new blank canvas. With a new name and a new look, the objective remains the same; to provide readers a diverse perspective on anything and everything manga and anime.

The name was conjured up during a brain storming session between writers morri and Bass one evening. Knowing that the colour scheme would predominantly be based on red, morri stumbled upon the word Sekijistu, with the definition as follows:
赤日 (hiragana せきじつ, romaji sekijitsu)
- glorious red sun
- the day of the evil (in Japanese six-day-week calendar.)

With the name set in stone, the logo was then designed by Bass, incorporating elements from the name along with some hidden symbolism. Examples of this include the blood splatter, the gradual warm colour sequence as well as the skull which appears due to the composition on the name and logo. The three strikes which represent ‘I’, ‘J’ and ‘I’ is supposed to acknowledge that this is Bass’ third attempt at trying to successfully blog (supposedly)
The blog theme was then chosen as the logo was finalised, with WPVulpe’s free Zeoal theme providing the perfect template. With some heavy modifications done on the original aesthetic (as well as multiple attempts and countless hours of pondering), the final look was established after plenty of trial and error by Bass (with help from morri and Tyki from D.Gray Divinity and coding guru RocketeerBKW). Hopefully the design will be able to accomplish what the team wants, which is to help Sekijitsu stand out from the crowd and provide the readers a pleasant experience.
